Christian Denominations

To help you on your journey of finding a church, Church Finder has created over 140 Profiles of Christian Denominations providing an overview of the largest Christian denominations in the United States and Canada. As you look to find Christian churches near you, Church Finder is here to help on your journey. The Church Finder Journey Guide includes an introduction to Denominational Churches.

About this List: We have grouped the top Christian denominations into general categories...click a link below to learn more about a specific denomination. Note that some smaller denominations and non-Christian religions are not included.

Not all of the church groups on this list would classify themselves as "denominations". Some are associations of churches, a loosely organized fellowship of independent churches, or in some cases a descriptive term that the church identifies itself with. Churches that are not part of a denomination or fellowship of churches might classify themselves as "Non-denominational" or "Independent". Also, ChurchFinder.com relies on each church to classify themselves, and does not verify/validate each church's classification.

Some pastors and churches might be a part of a denomination but do not agree with some of the beliefs or practices of their denomination. When evaluating churches on your "short list", it is best to find out directly from the church (or the senior pastor) more about their beliefs and practices.
