Our Welcome Center sits just inside the south (Kansas St.) entrance where you'll find greeters, our coffee bar, and friendly faces to help you get acquainted with options and locations of services. At 2BC, you'll find a wide range of attire. From “Sunday best” to jeans and tennis shoes, all are welcome. Most folks join us wearing their "business casual" attire, but please be comfortable and be yourself! It doesn't matter to us what you wear; we're just happy you're here. Services feature a traditional worship style with a relevant and contemplative sermon style. Pastor Jason is a young, dynamic preacher who always delivers a fresh message that makes you think about your faith, Christ, and God in new and interesting ways. (Yes, we've been known to play with Legos, watch a clip from "How to Train your Dragon," and hear quotes from reality TV in worship!) Our worship music (we sing from the hymnal!) features a beautiful organ and grand piano which accompany our 11:00 a.m. service and a robed choir that adds meaning and grace to our worship through song. And you'll often find a small orchestra during key Christian seasons such as Lent and Advent. The old-time favorite hymns and more current hymns add to a meaningful and rich worship experience through music. On Sunday mornings, you can find small group classes for all ages. Our children, student, and adult ministries offer great options for getting connected to others here at Second from 9:45-10:45 a.m. every week. Classes are available for all ages. The Welcome Center hosts can help you navigate the options and the building to find a good fit. Let us know you'll be joining us, and we'll have a personal host ready and waiting in the Welcome Center to meet you.

About Second Baptist Church

belong | believe | become These words are symbols of the culture we are trying to nurture at Second Baptist. We hope all three B's are happening within our faith community simultaneously, but there is purpose in the order. Whether you are a first time guest, a longtime member, or somewhere in between, we want you to know a deepening level of belonging among us. This isn't just because we want you to feel welcome at Second Baptist. This is because of our conviction that a deep level of belonging to Christ and the Christ community will bring about holy transformation in your life, in our church, and around our world. This is why relationship is a core value for us at Second Baptist. This is why our desire to foster meaningful, Christ-centered Community is at the forefront of our mission statement. It is because we subscribe to the biblical notion that we were created in the image of our God who is in essence a social reality: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God existing in sacred community is on mission to make our broken world whole. We want to be a part of that mission. We want to experience it. And so we begin where God begins, in sacred community. BELIEFS

Our Values Backward (Heritage) The future is wound up in the past, and its difficult to ever go anywhere unless you understand where you've been. We have a rich history at Second. We celebrate that history even as we continue to move into an ever changing future. Forward (Journey) We believe faith is a process and life is a journey. If you figured it all out yet, if you're still learning and growing, and if you're looking for a group of people to walk this path of faith with you graciously, we hope you'll consider joining us on our journey. Inward (Wholeness) All of us are broken in some way, and we believe that God wants us and all of of creation to be whole. We believe this is a huge part of experiencing redemption in this life. Wholeness doesn't just happen, it's an eternal endeavor. If you believe God wants to heal all of you and make you whole, we just might be the church for you. Outward (Serving) We believe faith is more than self-inspection. Christ-centered faith looks outward and humbly asks "what can I do, how can I help, whom can I serve?" At Second Baptist we want to join with God in serving the world as a community, and we want to help each individual member of our church find their unique niche in God's work too. Upward (Worship) We are not simply living in community with one another, but are committed to an ever growing communion with Almighty God. Whether we are gathering for a service on Sunday morning, studying together during the week, breaking bread around a table, or serving together on mission, meals during the week, or serving together on mission, we do so with our spirits tuned upward as an offering to our God. Or at least, that's our hope. Withward (Relationship) We were created in the image of our God who is a social reality: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In God's image, we are relational beings. With this in mind, our goal is to live, serve, grow, and worship from relationship to relationship. Fostering meaningful, Christ-centered community isn't about making everyone feel welcomed, it is about becoming who we're created and redeemed in Christ. Relationship is our chief value. Synergy 1 + 1 = 3. We believe that as we worship, serve, learn, and grow together in Christ-centered community, our whole will truly become greater than the sum of our parts. In community, there is possibility for greater innovation, creativity, meaning, joy, worship, and service. In community there is greater possibility. Synergy cannot happen in isolation. Synergy can only happen as ideas, gift, and lives are joined together in a kind of holy harmony. We value synergy at Second Baptist. And we long for it.
