Our Mission

Let us Rise up and Build
Our Purpose The purpose of the church is summed up in the commission Christ gave His disciples just before He ascended to Heaven: “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen” (Matthew 28:18–20). This last command of Christ should be our highest priority; every facet of church activity should in some way relate to this, the purpose of the church. Acts 5:42 records that the Jerusalem church was indeed fulfilling this purpose: “And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.” This young church was constantly engaged in making the Gospel known to the world. At Hacienda Baptist Church, we have emphasized this purpose in our three-point mission statement: Connect with God through Love Loving God begins in the heart, with a personal relationship with Him. As we gather and participate in Christ-honoring worship services and respond to the preaching of God’s Word, this love flourishes. Mark 12:30 says, “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.” Grow Together We grow together, in Christ, through the study of God’s Word. This occurs in our weekly services, in our smaller Bible studies as well, and in one-on-one discipleship. Serve Others We serve others as we find a place of ministry in the local body. We also serve by sharing the Gospel with those who need the Lord—through witnessing to friends, coworkers, neighbors, and loved ones, as well as in participating in church outreach and giving to missions. As a church, our mission is to reach the world with the Gospel of Christ. We want to utilize every available biblical means, and we want to disciple and train every member to participate in accomplishing our church’s purpose.

BELIEFS

We place a Strong Emphases on ….Prayer- This is first and foremost. Prayer is the chief work of the Church. Prayer is always in place at Church. His House truly is the house of prayer. Prayer is preeminent; we make it a top priority to pray in one accord with each other at Church. It is a practice that we strive on to do. Prayer is loyalty to God. We at Ponderosa covet our time of prayer. (Mark 11:17; Acts 1:14; 2:42; 31; 3:1; 6:4; 12:5; 16:13; 1 Timothy 2:1-8) Pursuing Holiness- As His bride, we believe in being a pure Church. We place strong emphases on each believer pursuing Holiness in his/her personal life. (Titus 2:14; 1 Peter 1:15-16; 2:9;James 4:8) Preaching- Preaching the Word of God is a priority in His Church. We make preaching a necessity in every service. Preaching that teaches His Word and brings the listener to a place of making a decision for the Lord. Preaching that expounds on His Word, reproves, rebukes, and exhorts in all long-suffering and doctrine. Preaching that is always uncompromising. Old fashioned preaching marks Ponderosa Baptist Church. (2 Timothy 4:1-4) Great Commission- It is the duty of every believer to be involved in telling the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost and dying world. We have been commissioned to go out to all the world and reach and teach people for Jesus Christ. This is our job, our duty, yea, the vehicle God has chosen to get the salvation message of Jesus Christ out. (Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15; John 20:21; Acts 1:8) Christ Honoring Music- It is a privilege to praise the Lord in song. No question about it, our worship involves our singing praises to the King who is worthy (worship means His Worth Ship- He is worthy). Songs that honor Him, songs that are in "psalms and hymns and spiritual songs" (Ephesians 5:19). We do not lower the standard of worship no matter how the world turns. There is a very high standard to worshipping the Holy Lord and we shall strive to keep it high. (Psalm 28:7; 33:3; 108:1; Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16) The Word of GOD- The Scripture is our only rule of faith and practice. We abide by the Holy Word. The Church and believers life are run by the Bible. The Scripture that we hold today is His inerrant, infallible Word, in its entirety. (Psalms 12:6-7; Proverbs 30:5; Matthew 4:19; 2 Timothy 2:16; 1 Peter 1:23) Old Paths- In a changing world and sad to say a changing church world, we keep to the old paths. The old time way. Keeping the ancient landmark that the Lord has set up. Being old fashioned is not a scary thing, but the right thing for He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Proverbs 22:28; 23:10; Jeremiah 6:16) Contending for the Faith - A compromising church is truly a backslidden Church. The road to compromising is the road to Apostasy (turning from what you once believed). No one wants to go that route at first, but at the same time no one wants to fight for the faith. When a church stops fighting for the faith, they have just taken the road of compromising. It is better to have an empty church than an offended God.
