Love Mission Facts From a Former Insider.
What I witnessed over my 4 year involvement with the Love Mission could best be summed up as and organization suffering a significant decline in safety. Contributing mostly to this decline was the loss of board members, replacing them with unqualified individuals who do not act in the best interest of the organization. I came to this conclusion after observing unethical behavior and unlawful activity. These acts range from diversion of resources (reselling food); theft of donation money/charitable donations; openly using and selling drugs such as methamphetamine, and marijuana, and prostitution that are condoned by leadership. During my time there I witnessed these things occur and looked the other way. I believed that the good outweighed the bad. As time went on the bad has overtaken the good and public safety is being compromised. When I began pushing back and looking the issues in the face instead of looking the other way, I was threatened, slandered, persecuted, and ultimately exiled. The principles claim to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. I'm admittedly no religious scholar, however I know the 10 Commandments by heart. Apparently the leadership has had a memory lapse and forgotten ones like "Thou shall not steal", "Thou shall not bear false witness", and "Thou shall not commit ADULTERY". Their actions speak much louder than words. I've experienced their Love Mission and it has ruined my life.
In my opinion the premises in not safe, especially for children, and does not attempt to provide safety and protection from exposure to narcotics, immoral acts, lewd behavior, vulgar language, and bullying. In my opinion this decline began when the longtime Director of the Board, Ann Boyd had to take an extended absence in 2024, and her replacement, although very charming and popular, was not able to provide the leadership and organization like Ann did. It did not help that the acting director was also involved in immoral and illegal activity. You lead by example and some examples I witnessed were theft of donation money; theft and diversion of charitable donations for profit; personal use of Goodwill coupons issued to Love Mission; heavy use of methamphetamine, and marijuana; and according to the man the acting director lives with, prostitution, as he told me and I quote, "I'm her pimp". And as if all that wasn't enough the acting director and her "pimp" conspired scrap unused buildings on the property while also looting property belonging to the Wilmer Baptist Church and selling it to unwitting patrons of the Love Mission thrift store.
Human behavior and the decline of a loved one due to heavy substance abuse has been an excruciatingly heartbreaking thing to witness and experience for myself as I'm sure it has been for many of you reading this. I can't see how Wilmer Baptist provides access to the location unless they are oblivious to what's going on. I cannot see how the Mission of Hope, which is a drug rehab center, provides the food to the Love Mission unless they are oblivious as well. And finally, I cannot understand and never will understand what goes on in a avoidant narcissist's mind. I personally am still reeling from years of mental and yes even physical abuse inflicted by the current director of the Love Mission. I am publishing this review after hours of prayer and careful deliberation. I am not publishing this review to "get even". I've attempted for the last few weeks to contact the acting director and seek comment on this review before publishing it and have been ignored. I am publishing it now because public safety is compromised, and I need to clear my conscious as I put this nightmare behind me. I've done my part in exposing the bad actors responsible for ruining a wonderful service, started by a selfless woman many years ago who's now being manipulated and taken advantage of in the golden years of her life. What documentation I have will be provided to the Wilmer Baptist Church and the Mobile County School Board and they can do with it as they see fit.
