I am 57 years old and native to Waterbury Connecticuts North End wherein resides St Thomas Church. I had been baptized there in 1963,attended religious instruction there at both the church and the old St Thomas school, which is now demolished. I made all my sacraments there, except matrimony but the point is this church was the center of Christian living for not just my but many other people's families. In it's heyday of operation, there were daily masses at the convent at which I served mass as an altarboy, weekly masses on Saturday afternoon at 5pm and Sunday at 11am. Every Saturday evening Vito Galasso would call the numbers at BINGO,there were always activities for kids then... The interior of the church was beautifully restored as late as the 1970s and had it's own pipe organ, played by Mr Burt who lived in a tiny white house right next to the school. My sister was married there and the church and or archdiocese fell upon hard times, and by 1987 St Thomas was closed for good. I will never forget the families friends priests and the beautiful memorable times we had attending Waterbury Connecticuts St Thomas Church
