Okay, okay, you're probably thinking, "Of course the pastor loves the church! Tell me something I don't know." Well, it's not such a slam-dunk. For most of my ministry I've been an "interim minister" who goes to churches when they're between settled pastors. I've really liked some of them, and just got along with the others. But, I had to leave all of them. Waterford UCC is different: I love that the people here were willing to let go of a big downtown building — actually give it away — so that they could figure out what God has in store for them and act on it. Who does something like that? I've been with the church since 2011, and I travel many miles each week to be present. It's given me hope for the future, that a "traditional" church can change and become a living presence in the community for this new century. Expect a warm welcome that isn't "in your face" from these friendly folks. I've received it, too, and I'm grateful for this congregation and the new paths we're walking together.
