My brother, Larry used to be a member here in the 70's and early part of 80's. He was a member there for about 9 years. Then he married a woman who lived in Orleans/Mitchell area. Unfortunately they were divorced. During the divorce she carried a son in which she did not want. Larry did and pursued to get custody of his son. He was successful and raised his son by himself while attending Walnut Street Baptist Church.
When his son was 19 years old, Larry develop a tumor in which it was removed. However he was not able to do any of cleaning the trailer he lived in and do prepare meals.
So through the years he finally moved to Georgetown Manor Nursing Home, 900 Gagel Avenue, Louisville, KY, 40216. Larry is still not able to walk or stand. I go to see him every week and fix so Mom can talk to him through the phone.
Mom is also bedfast and is not able to walk or stand. Also she is blind from not being able to get cataracts off in time and her vertebrae has been broken several times last year.
Larry's son was named after him. We call him, Allen, Allen is married and has been married for 8 years. He works at Rally's Restaurant here in Louisville. He tries to see Larry as much as he can. It is not too much as he need to be. Allen does not have a car and I take him when he decide to go.
Larry is doing well. I sent his mailing address and hope some of you can send a letter or cards to him.
I am a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church here in Louisville. I did arrange for Mom to be a member here. I would have Larry as a member there. He is now a member of Shively Christian Church where several members give him cards all the time and visit him. I am not sure if he is able to say that he wants to be a member there. When I ask him, he just says, "If you want to." Mom will love if some of you all would give him a card as well.
