First Baptist Madisonville is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention but it is not a satellite of the SBC. The church is member led and pastor served. Dr. Kevin Maples is the pastor and he preaches Bible inspired sermons and studies. He is often a guest instructor in seminary studies. The church has returned to in person worship and activities. First Baptist is a leader in support of missionaries around the globe and is in coordination with Little Bethel Baptist Association in supporting the Mong people in Southeast Asia.
