No one is a stranger at Blue Hills Church of the Nazarene. I found this to be true 20 years ago when I walked through the church doors for the first time. You might come in as a stranger but you will leave as family! A personal note, I didn't start attending church until I was an adult. I was a bit hesitant to go since didn't know what to expect or how I was expected to act. I did go on occasion to attend a funeral or a wedding but that was about it. For a long time, I had basically been watching evangelism services on TV from a variety of ministers. One minister would say at the end of his TV services, "Get yourself in a bible-based church.." I kept thinking to myself I need to do just that because often times these type of services would deliver a message I needed to hear and I would be moved spiritually. But I still kept procrastinating about going to church. It wasn't that I was dealing with any particular issue at any particular time, but I always knew something was missing in my life. I felt deep in my soul that I needed to get a fire started inside me spiritually and I wasn't going to get it laying in bed watching a television evangelism service. So it just happened that a friend invited me to her church, which turned out to be Blue Hills Church located then on Paseo Boulevard. (They have since moved to a beautiful and bigger home on Blue Ridge Boulevard). When opening services began, there was some lovely hymn singing and prayer. At one point, a lady asked if there were any visitors and if so, would they please stand up so they could be greeted. I stood up. I got a hand of applause and later warmly greeted by many Blue Hills church members. Everyone was so kind and services were so spirit-filled that a visit turned into my joining the church! So if you are ready for spiritual growth as I was, come worship the Lord with us. And if you are dealing with a particular burden, what better place to bring your burden to than the house of the Lord? One of my favorite passages in the bible is in Matthew 18:20 when Jesus says, "For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst." So Blue Hills is the place to be! We will pray with you and for you. And you will be blessed! So just come as you are. Let God do the rest.
