I attended a comedy night for a Christian adoption service. My friend who has two foster girls who are 13 and I attended.
I had never walked into a church where secular music was playing in the lobby. Songs like sweet home Alabama were playing the hour we waited to go in.
During the show, which had members of their congregation as comedians as well as others, one joked about practicing gynecology as a hobby, how he jiggles his private parts when he pees now that he is old, another one joked about adultry, the third comedian was a member who said he is doing new jokes and to clap if they liked them. He went on to talk about a friend dating a 20 year old and pedophilia and they clapped for the joke.
We were very uncomfortable having the thirteen year old girls there and the night was increasingly inappropriate and we weren’t sure that ot would get better.
Whe people complain that there is no difference between the church and the world, I understand after this experience.
