Our Mission

Why do we exist? Well to put it in as few words as possible...to save the lost and equip the found! Jesus made it very clear that the foremost commandment of all is to love God and to love others (Mark 12:29-31). As a church of the New Testament, we are dedicated to fulfilling this commandment in a practical way; by feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, clothing the naked, showing hospitality to strangers, visiting the sick, the hurting, and the imprisoned (Matthew 25:34-40). This is best displayed in a passage of scripture found in the book of Isaiah, chapter 58. We desire to take Isaiah 58 to three circles of influence that are around us. 1. The first circle is the body of believers within the church. (Equipping The Church) 2. The second circle is the city we live in. (Loving The City) 3. The third circle encompasses the entire world. (Changing The World)

Even before you set foot into the front door, you will feel welcomed! Services are incredible! High-energy music! Sincere worship! And a relevant message from one of our pastors! We want every person who visits VBF to leave challenged, as well as comforted. It is a time to visit with friends and learn encouraging truths from God's Word. We want you to be able to experience the great music, encouraging messages, friendly people, and enjoyable atmosphere that are all part of VBF. With this in mind, we know that your first time at a church, any church, brings up some questions. What should I expect the first time I visit VBF? We’ll make sure the first face you see when you approach the church has a smile on it. Whether you need childcare or are looking for a place for your teens, a greeter will be nearby to help you get where you need to go. One of our foremost goals as a corporate body is to provide a comfortable atmosphere in which you can grow in the knowledge of the Lord and meet other Christians with whom you can identify. What do I wear to church? Come as you are! The dress ranges from casual to professional. We’re more concerned with meeting your real life needs than with what you wear. Our pastors will often wear blue jeans, a t-shirt, and flip flops...so, dress casually and you’ll fit right in. What does VBF offer for my family? VBF offers classes and groups for every age. During our Sunday and Wednesday services, you will find childcare for your newborns and classes for kids all the way up to 8th grade. High School Youth meets on Tuesday nights. Check under the "What's Happening" section for specific times and meeting places for all classes and groups. What kind of people attend VBF? People from every background imaginable attend VBF. We accept people wherever they are in life, so VBF is filled with people from many differing economic levels and races. Our parking lot on Sunday mornings reflects this diversity. You will find Harley Davidson Motorcycles, Mercedes Convertibles, and old pick-up trucks. What kind of music can I expect? Every service we do begins with about 15 minutes of live music where you can sing along. Our band plays a wide variety of contemporary praise and worship. Sundays and Wednesdays are both an upbeat time of celebration and sincere worship, so our music reflects these dynamic differences by using a wide range of musicians and instruments. What type of church or denomination is VBF? VBF is a non-denominational, Bible-centered church. We are a very simple, fundamental church that believes in teaching the Word of God in a spiritual authority with a balanced perspective. We believe that sound doctrine is a real need in the body of Christ today. We believe and identify with the practices, lifestyle, and the doctrines of the early church. We hope, pray, and believe that as the early members of the church touched their world for Jesus Christ, so can we. To give you an even better understanding of who we are, please read the following article that recently appeared in the Las Vegas Review Journal about VBF. Local Church is “Loving the Hell Out of People” No one can miss this church’s van driving down the road these days. On both sides of the van are pictures of the actual people that attend Valley Bible Fellowship, a church that meets on South Durango Drive, near Flamingo Road, in the southwest part of town. Lead Pastor Jim Crews says that one of the reasons why they decided to do this was to show folks in the community the tremendous diversity of people that attend the church. “We have such an amazing group of people that come each week to VBF. We have former gang bangers, prostitutes, bikers, people with tattoos and body piercings. along with accountants, doctors, and politicians. I believe the big reason for this diverse crowd is the message that we speak each week. That message is God loves imperfect people. We go out of our way to try to demonstrate that love in practical ways. For example, recently we had a Sunday service where we placed buckets on the stage and filled them with money. I told the church that if they were hurting financially, I wanted them to come and take a handful of money from the buckets to help their financial needs. It was one of the most powerful services we have ever had. People are so used to hearing about the church taking people’s money, that something like this is looked at as radical. Yet, when you read the bible, this was the way the early church lived in community together. I don’t blame unbelievers for not liking the church. I don’t like it either. That is why I like to tell people that VBF is a church for people who don’t like church.” In addition to this, VBF has made waves with other Christian organizations by renting an exhibit booth at the annual porn convention held in Las Vegas, handing out free CDs and books, along with having a prayer board where people could write down prayer requests. Crews said that the volunteers at the booth were overwhelmed this year at the amount of people that stopped by their booth and not only took the books and CDs, but also asked for prayer. “We have had people become part of our church because they met us at the porn convention, and we had the opportunity to share with them. How cool is that?” said Crews. VBF hopes to reclaim what the church has seemed to lose: a heart for one another, a heart for the community, and a heart for the world. Another part of the colorful church van that stands out is the motto found on both sides, as well as on the back. It reads, “loving the hell out of people.” When asked about the motto, Crews replied, “People emphasize hell as a literal place where one goes when they die, apart from God. Even though we do believe this, we are also concerned with the hell people are living here on earth. Divorce, disease, and depression are sweeping epidemics in our culture, and are also signs that we live in a broken world. We believe God has the remedy for all three epidemics, and then some. The love that God offers is greater than divorce. It is greater than disease. It is greater than depression. This love that God offers is able to drive the hell right out of our lives.” Crews also added, “When you come to one of our services, you will see that we love presenting this message through creative means, from rock’n’roll style worship music, humor, video clips, to the pastors dressing in regular street clothes, and occasionally starting the services with hip-hop artists or dancers. Valley Bible Fellowship has been in the Las Vegas area for ten years now. Since beginning with only five people, they have grown to a strong fellowship of over a thousand people. Beginning this Sunday, the new Sunday Morning service times will be 9:00AM & 11:00AM. Childcare and youth classes will be available for each of these services. Crews also added this, “Even though new faces continue to show up each week at VBF, there is always room for one more imperfect person.”

BELIEFS

We are a very simple, fundamental church that believes in teaching the Word of God in a spiritual authority with a balanced perspective. We believe that sound doctrine is a real need in the body of Christ today. One of our foremost goals as a corporate body is to provide a comfortable atmosphere in which you can grow in the knowledge of the Lord and meet other Christians with whom you can identify. We believe and identify with the practices, lifestyle, and the doctrines of the early church. We hope, pray, and believe that as the early members of the church touched their world for Jesus Christ, so can we. We believe : that the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19-21) that God is triune - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (1 John 5:7; John 1:1,2,14) that man fell through disobedience (Romans 5:12,19) that Christ died to redeem us (Titus 2:14; Galatians 3:13) that salvation is through grace (Ephesians 2:8-10; Romans 3:23-24) that repentance and acceptance are vital (1 John 1:9; John 6:37b) that new birth must be experienced to become a child of God (John 3:3; 2 Corinthians 5:17) in a daily Christian life (1 Thessalonians 5:23; Hebrews 6:1) in water baptism through immersion (Romans 6:4; Acts 2:41) in the institution of the Lord's Supper (1 Corinthians 11:23b-28) in the Spirit-filled life (Romans 12:1-2; Galatians 5:16,25) in the gifts and fruit of the Holy Spirit (Romans 12:6-8; Galatians 5:22-23; John 15:8) in divine healing (James 5:14-16; Matthew 8:17) that the second coming of Christ is both imminent and personal (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17) in the church relationship and in civil government (Hebrews 10:24-25; Titus 3:1) in the final judgment (Matthew 13:41-43) in heaven and hell (1 Corinthians 2:9; John 14:2, Revelation 20:10,15) in tithes and offerings to support the Lord's work (Malachi 3:10; 2 Corinthians 9:7) that the church is responsible to evangelize all nations (Mark 16:15; John 4:35-37)
