I am not a member but have been a regular attender with Crossgate church for nearly 4 years. I am a single female who was searching to replace a church of 20 years. While I am not an extrovert in visiting new places, I was absolutely embraced from the first day I walked into Crossgate. There were many who immediately made contact with me and invited me into their homes and their families. The church is made up of a diverse group of believers and backgrounds. There are many within the church who serve in various ways. A primary emphasis of the leadership is that those who are regular attenders be involved in more than just a standard church service by participating in other groups and service opportunities. The church's theme is "growing true disciples." I personally believe that is more than just a motto; it is a sincere desire of the church body to grow each member more deeply in their relationship with Christ. Another very large element of this church is their emphasis on missions. I came from a Christian and Missionary Alliance background and missions support was important to me. This church has demonstrated an incredible commitment to supporting local, national, and international missions. Their missions support goes far beyond what I have witnessed in many other churches. There is a deep sincerity of heart-felt desire to reach the lost. Finally, worship service each week, for me, is rooted in rightly dividing the Word. The pastor is not afraid to delve into hard passages that might be perceived as culturally sensitive. I believe he stands unapologetically on the belief that the Word of God is without error, in its entirety. The music is a mix of hymns and worship songs and the leader's desire in those songs is to glorify God, not the songs or the performance. No church is perfect, but I count myself blessed to have been led to this congregation of believers.
