About Emmaus Abbey Cathedral/ Diocese of Knoxville & Province of Southern Appalachia. We are "The American Orthodox Catholic Church" in Knoxville, TN

Emmaus Abbey Church is an "American Orthodox Catholic Church." We are an ancient evangelical, sacramental, liturgical Christian church that believes that the road to the future runs through the past. When Christ freely chose to go to the Cross of Calvary, he did to save all who would accept Him as Lord and Savior! John 3:16. Christ is the Ancient of Ancients! And that’s part of what “Ancient” means: Our worship and spirituality are deeply rooted in classic Christianity– and we’re convinced that the faith and practice of the ancient Church will engage our culture more effectively and provide a way forward in a time of almost unbelievable transition and change.

BIBLICAL COUNSELING: We have a Biblical counseling ministry at our church. We do not believe in "Recovery," BUT we do believe in TRANSFORMATION. There is a huge difference. For instance, Addiction. Recovery means you may get some help with your addiction, but you continue to struggle with it. Transformation means you are delivered from the Addiction. We have a School for Biblical Counseling where we train biblical counselors to provide help for those struggling in their marriages, anger, depression, anxiety, addiction, etc. We also provide the sacrament of Reconciliation every week.

BELIEFS

Believe the Scriptures are Inerrant and without error. The Incarnation, Virgin Birth. The Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Healing Prayer. Real Presence in Lord's Supper or Eucharist Seven Sacraments of the Church Nicene Creed *** We are the unchanged church of ACTS chapter 2. "We believe all men should come to the saving Grace of Jesus Christ. St. Cyprian said, No one can have God for your Father, who does not have the Church for his mother." In short, you cannot have a body with a head! ** A person who says they are a Christian and never attends or supports the church is not a Christian. Today the church requires boldness yet love. To not tell the Truth is like giving a rock to someone who is asking for bread. Christ is eternal life. Come share with us, we want to build God's church in Knoxville. The answer to the eternal security question on salvation is if you continue to walk in the love of Christ then you are being saved as St. Paul says in book of Romans and we remain in Christ. The problem with people today is, they want eternal life and a license to continue to sin. Being a part of Christ is a total surrender from Sin! You have to turn away from this world and all its pleasures. No where in the bible we see walking an aisle, shaking preachers' hand and being saved. It's more than that. We have to exchange our life for Christ. If Judas can walk away and betray Christ, I suppose you can too! You have to let go of everything in this world. Romans 6:1 As for baptism, baby dedication is not found in the bible, only baptism. This requires a more intentional discussion. The best resource you can find is the book: "Common Ground" by Jordan Bajis. After you read that book, it will change your life.
Primary Bible Version Used: New King James
Baptism: Both
Communion Frequency: Weekly
Healing and Charismatic Gifts: Regularly Practice
Regularly Practice: Prayers for Healing
We agree with these Doctrinal Statements: Nicene Creed
