I have spent my entire life involved in church since I was born. I have been a greeter, drummer, janitor, Youth Pastor, Assistant Pastor, Deacon, Sunday School teacher, member of a congregation and ministered from behind the pulpit and I can tell you this one thing for certain Victory Church of McKinney is the real thing. As soon as you walk into the doors of the church you can feel the love of Christ not only in word but in action. The congregation treats you like they have known you their entire lives and when visiting you do not feel like a visitor but like you are part of the family. The church has a slogan that says “God is seen. Love is felt. Lives are changed” and all three are not just words on a paper but words lived out by these pastors. Pastor Matthew Long is an incredible preacher and not only that the man can teach the word like I have never heard. He preaches the truth as the Bible states and not his opinion. What he shares or teaches comes straight from the Word of God and he delivers it with passion and purpose. He has a heart for hurting people and a love that only comes from a deep-rooted conviction. He has the love of Christ and wants to help you become who God says you are. If you miss a service he reaches out to make sure everything is ok and checks to see if you need anything. It doesn’t matter where you are or what he is doing if you ask him to pray about a situation he will stop the conversation with you and begin to pray for God to meet your need right there on the spot. He imparts Godly wisdom into your life with almost every conversation you have with him. Jenifer Long, his wife, is one of the greatest examples of a Proverbs 31 woman I have ever met who has a love for God and a passion for his people. On a normal Sunday Service you can find her teaching the Children’s ministry and then at the altar praying for someone in need all while still being a mom of two amazing sons who both serve in ministry alongside their parents. There is a hunger, passion and a thirst for God’s presence at Victory that exudes from the Pastors and has become contagious within the congregation from the anointed young lady that leads worship to the greeting you receive at the door. Victory doesn’t care what you have been through or done they just want your live to be changed through the love of Jesus Christ. If you are looking for a church, I encourage you to give Victory Church of McKinney, Texas a visit. I can promise you this God will be seen; Love will be felt and your life will be changed because the people of this church want nothing less. When visiting for the first time do me a favor and ask Pastor Matthew Long how he got two picks in a row and watch the expression on his face. ;)
