I found Virginia Beach Christian about 20 years ago recommended by a friend. When I first came, it felt different because it was so different from the church of my childhood, but I learned to love the people, the music program and the weekly communion. This church is a member of Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ), an American denomination from the 1830's. It is an open-minded church studying and practicing the teachings of Jesus. There is no dogma. I found in this church people helping others through Habitat for Humanity (on the Easter Shore) and community outreach including a Food Pantry. There is an excellent choir which sings many of the "good old hymns" as well as new music. There are special programs throughout the year such as the Easter and Christmas Cantatas. Members of the Governor's School for the Arts also play their instruments during the special programs. Communion is an essential part of our worship service and the "Lord's supper" is served every week and is open to all those who are Christian. I hope that you visit my church and find out about "The church that love is building."
