A vibrant church with over 150 attending on Sunday in 2012 was formally dissolved in 2023 after a decade of decline. The Presbytery of Seattle welcomed James Kumin as the new Pastor in August of 2012 noting that "James served at four different churches, seeing growth at each congregation." But James came with an agenda and heavy hand that increasingly gutted the membership and leadership through control, manipulation and discipline. Before Covid moved services online, attendance was about 45 and dropped to 30 during the Pandemic. During James' sabbatical as COVID waned, attendance stabilized - only to decline under 20 upon his return. When the volunteer base and funding had finally dwindled to a point of no return, IPC's Session met with Seattle Presbytery and pulled the plug, dissolving the congregation. This is a cautionary tale for any church that is unwilling or unable to balance the needs of the congregation with the safeguards in place for pastoral continuity. https://www.seattlepresbytery.org/prayers-of-the-people/?offset=1362513341180
