Meet The Pastor
Dr. Clayton Galloway Sr.
It may seem somewhat coincidental, but this is the second time that Brother Clayton has been a member of Bethesda as well as the second staff position he has held here at the church. Brother Clayton received the Lord as His Savior here at Bethesda under the ministry of Rev. Gerald Ross at the age of 9 years old. He was also baptized here and received the call to the ministry while in high school. He served as the Junior Church Director at a time when the church had active and flourishing bus and puppet ministries.
Completion of the doctorate program at Southern Bible Theological Seminary greatly assisted in preparing him for full-time Christian ministry. He was ordained on November 28, 1999, at Second Baptist Church, Thomson, Ga. Sister Mary is also a graduate of Southern Bible Theological Seminary with an Associate’s Degree in Christian Education and has worked in the McDuffie County School system, First Baptist of Thomson's, Cornerstone Preschool and Lewis Memorial Methodist Church’s Preschool.
The Galloway’s have two children, Ashley Diane and Clayton Robert Jr. both have accepted the Lord and have been baptized, both continue to grow spiritually. Ashley completed her Bachelor’s degree at Augusta State University and is currently enrolled in the MBA program and was married to Trent Nelson in 2016. Clayton Jr. completed high school and is currently employed with Columbia County Facilities Services Department.
Brother Clayton accepted the call to serve in the position of interim pastor on October 10, 2010. Brother Clayton now serves as Pastor of Bethesda Baptist Church. We are excited about what God is doing in and through his ministry and that of his family. We invite you to come by and meet him and his family in person.
