First of all, I would like to say Pastor Mike Fillis and the Church Members are Friendly and welcoming. On Sunday morning August 2, 2015 while preaching on the book of Philippines, Mike was preaching the “Doctrine of Election” one of the five tenets of Calvinism. A doctrine which states that God by his own sovereign Will determines who gets saved and who does not get saved, man has no choice in the matter. It is my opinion, this type of preaching is contrary to 1 Timothy 2:4, 2 Peter 3:9, John 3:16, 1 John 2:2, 1 John 4:14, John 1:29, John 4:42, 1 Timothy 4:10, John 12:32, and Revelation 3:20. Worst of all, it cheapens what Christ did on the Cross by implying that Jesus only died for the Elect, Limited Atonement, another tenet of Calvinism. I am not a Calvinist, and I do not identify myself as Arminian. I became a Christian by putting my faith in that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for not only my sins, but for everyone. I wish the Christian community would get rid of the divisive teaching of Calvinism vs Arminian. The Church needs to focus on the Good News of the Gospel, that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. That Jesus paid the price for everyone’s sins on Calvary and that all may have redemption by putting their faith in what he did on the Cross. John Calvin was a mere mortal, Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. I want to emphasize again that Pastor Mike is an amicable man, I just respectfully disagree with his doctrine. The Church members are delightful. If you believe in Calvinism, this is the Church for You. If you do not believe in Calvinism, look elsewhere.
