Our Mission

Our Church Mission & Vision Our Mission This church exists for the sole purpose of glorifying God through obedience to His holy Word. We believe this is best accomplished by exalting God through public proclamation and private living, edifying believers through discipleship and community and the evangelism of the lost through the faithful preaching of the Gospel. All activities of the church shall be done to this end and shall have as its main thrust the fulfillment of the Great Commission as given by Jesus Christ in Matthew 28 in the New Testament, which includes observing “all things whatsoever” He has commanded the church. Our Vision By God’s grace we wish to be a church that is and does the following: We desire to be a church that honors God by making the Word of God preeminent in all of our ministries. This will be accomplished as we look to it as our sole authority for faith and practice This will be accomplished through expository preaching This will be accomplished as it is faithfully taught in classroom and small group settings This will be accomplished as we train disciples to be teachers, leaders, missionaries and pastors We desire to be a church that honors God through the practice of genuine corporate worship. This will be accomplished through regular Sunday meetings This will be accomplished through observance of the biblical ordinances This will be accomplished through special meeting held for this purpose We desire to be a church that honors God by being characterized by constant prayer. This will be accomplished as public prayer is emphasized in Worship Services and small groups This will be accomplished as the leadership cultivates this practice privately and personally This will be accomplished as the members of the church are led and discipled to be a praying people This will be accomplished as the church sets aside time to make prayer a priority We desire to be a church that honors God by being characterized by diligence in evangelism. This will be accomplished through the faithful proclamation of the Gospel from the pulpit This will be accomplished through the faithful proclamation of the Gospel by the members of the church as matter of lifestyle, which includes a commitment to witnessing to family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, acquaintances and other random acts of witnessing This will be accomplished through our small group ministries This will be accomplished through special meetings of the church called for this purpose This will be accomplished through discipleship as we train each believer in the area of evangelism We desire to be a church that honors God by being a disciple making church. This will be accomplished as the faithful witnessing described above produces new believers This will be accomplished as the leadership demonstrates personal commitment to their own personal growth and discipleship, thus setting the example for others This will be accomplished as the leadership provides a discipleship structure that includes teaching and training for believers at every level of maturity This will be accomplished as every member embraces and commits wholeheartedly to their own personal growth and discipleship This will be accomplished as the leadership recognizes the giftedness of each member and purposefully places them in an environment where they are trained and given the opportunity to utilize their gifts We desire to be a church that honors God through the fellowship of believers who meet together throughout the week in an expanding network of small groups dedicated to the care, ministry and edification of “one another.” This will be accomplished as the leadership purposefully organizes the placement of small groups and actively participates in them This will be accomplished as members are encouraged by leadership to participate faithfully in small group ministry and wholeheartedly embrace the benefit of such ministry This will be accomplished as leadership recognizes and purposefully trains small group leaders to effectively lead their group with the church’s mission and vision in mind This will be accomplished as members who are being discipled demonstrate faithfulness and desire to become small group leaders We desire to be a church that honors God by constantly reaching out to the local community for the purpose of showing them God’s love. This will be accomplished through the leadership seeking opportunities to help with needs in the community and providing the membership opportunities to meet those needs This will be accomplished as the membership recognizes and are made aware of community needs through daily living and present such opportunities to the church This will be accomplished through purposeful planning and scheduling of such events We desire to be a church that honors God through equipping, training and aiding the development of ministry leadership. This includes the equipping of laymen as well as those in or headed for vocational ministry. This will be accomplished as the leadership purposefully sets forth a ministry structure that will provide such training This will be accomplished as leadership recognizes the giftedness and calling of the membership and encourages them to pursue further discipleship and training This will be accomplished as members are committed to their discipleship and “calling” and seek such opportunities through the ministry of the church We desire to be a church that honors God by facilitating the expansion and influence of the gospel and the church on the local, regional, cross-cultural, national and global level. By God’s grace we desire to make a serious impact on missions. Locally, this will result in the planting of like-minded churches. This will be accomplished as the membership of the church faithfully carries out the churches vision of evangelism and discipleship This will be accomplished as members of the church are discipled and are “called” to the ministry, either in this church, a church plant, or missionary work This will be accomplished as we plan and purposefully use our resources for such endeavors

BELIEFS

Section I – Explanation & Statement of Biblical Authority This Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our faith. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of church doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our governing board (pastor and elders comprising the doctrinal committee) is the church’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application. We do believe, however, that the Statement of Faith accurately represents the teaching of the Bible and, therefore, is binding upon all members. Section II – The Scriptures We believe that the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament are verbally and plenary inspired; that they contain truth without any mixture or error in the autographs; that they are infallible and inerrant in all matters of which they speak; and that they constitute God’s complete revelation and are the sole authority for faith and practice. We further believe that the Scriptures are to be interpreted according to a grammatical-historical hermeneutic. This demands that we understand the Bible literally when it speaks, for example, of the creation of the world in six solar days, the existence of Adam and Eve as the progenitors of the human race, the global deluge of Noah’s day, the creation of nations at Babel by means of language diversification, and the personal existence of an evil being called Satan. (2 Timothy 3:15-4:2; 1 Peter 1:10; 2 Peter 1:15-21; Proverbs 30:5-6; John 10:35; Romans 2:12; Luke 24:25) Section III – The Godhead We believe that there is one God existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, one in essence, co-eternal and co-equal in every divine attribute. (Deut. 6:4; John 4:24; Psalms 90:1-2; James 1:17; Matthew 3:16-17; Matthew 28:19) Section IV – The Lord Jesus Christ We believe that Jesus Christ, being 100% God and 100% man, was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died a substitutionary death, arose bodily from the grave, ascended to heaven, now intercedes for believers and will come again in the pre-tribulation, pre-millennial appearing. (John 1:1; Matthew 1:18-25; Hebrews 9:26-28; Luke 24:5-7, 36-40; Acts 1:9-10; Hebrews 5:1-10; 1 John 2:1-2; Hebrews 1:1-10) Section V – The Holy Spirit We believe that the Holy Spirit is the person in the Godhead who restrains evil, convicts of sin, bears witness to the truth of the Gospel in preaching and testimony, is the agent in the new birth, indwells the believer, baptizes into the Body of Christ, and fills believers for spiritual service. We believe that Apostolic gifts such as tongues, healing, and sign miracles, while practiced in the early church, are not normative for today. However we do believe that God may heal the sick and afflicted in accord with His own will. (John 15:26; John 16:7-11; Ephesians 1:13-14; 1 Corinthians 3:16, Romans 8:9; Ephesians 5:18) Section VI – The Fall of Man We believe that Adam was created in innocence and by a voluntary transgression fell; that when Adam fell, mankind fell; that man is born with a sinful nature and spiritually dead; that he is totally depraved and unable to effect his own salvation. (Genesis 1:27-31; 2:16-17; 3:6-24; Romans 5:12; John 3:6; Psalms 51:5; Isaiah 53:6; Ephesians 2:1-3; Ezekiel 18:19-20; Romans 1:19-32; 3:19; Galatians 3:22) Section VII – Salvation (A) Salvation We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone (demonstrated through repentance of sin), in Christ alone. This is based on the finished work of Christ, by which Christ fully satisfied the just demands of a holy and righteous God; and that believers are kept by the power of God and that the mark of genuine salvation is their perseverance in faith, to the end. (Romans 3:24-26; Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 6:23; Titus 3:5; Acts 16:31; Romans 10:9, 10-13; John 3:16; John 10:27-29; 1 John 5:1). (B) Doctrines of Grace We believe that every person is born into this world as a depraved sinner. This is due to the sin nature that has been passed down from Adam to each succeeding generation and “inherited” by each individual. Not only is Adam’s sin inherited by each individual, but Adam’s sin has also been “imputed” by God to each individual as Adam served the human race as its Federal Head. This sin or corruption leaves each individual in a state of total depravity that renders him unable in and of himself to effect his own salvation in any way. We believe that those who are saved have been unconditionally and sovereignly elected by God to salvation in eternity past; That through the supernatural working of the Spirit of God and the Word of God, the elect, though unregenerate sinners will be drawn to Christ for salvation at some point in their life on earth, though they may reject for a time; That those drawn to Christ are not forced to come against their will because God has changed their heart toward Him. We believe that the sole purpose for the atoning work of Christ on the cross was to save His people from their sins; That through His atonement Jesus Christ satisfied the wrath of God against sin by becoming the propitiation for the sins of His people throughout history and all over the world. We believe that all who come to God for salvation and are truly saved will be saved from the moment of conversion throughout all eternity with no possibility of ever being “lost” again. We believe that in all matters of salvation and sanctification God is sovereign and man is responsible. Section VIII – Sanctification We believe that sanctification is positional in that one is established in a position of holiness at the moment he trusts Christ as Savior; that it is a process as the Holy Spirit applies the Word of God to the believer; that it is practical through a progressive work and that it is future when in heaven we will be delivered from all sin. (1 Thessalonians 4:3; 5:23; 2 Corinthians 7:1; Ephesians 1:4-6; Proverbs 4:18; Hebrews 6:1; 2 Peter 1:5-8; 1 John 2:29; Philippians 2:12-13; Ephesians 6:18) Section IX – Biblical Separation We believe that Biblical Separation includes: (A) Separation of Church and State. (but not government separated from its Scriptural foundations. Here we simply mean that there should be no state-sponsorship, or licensure demanded for the existence of a “state-approved” church. This also does not mean that the local church should in no way impact the state. By God’s grace, we will!) (B) Ecclesiastical separation of the local church from any affiliation or fellowship that denies the basic fundamentals of the faith and from those groups that are tolerant and supportive of ecumenism. (C) Personal separation from sinful actions and attitudes as defined by God’s Word. (1 John 2:15-17; Romans 12:1-2; 1 Corinthians 5; 2 Thessalonians 3:8-15; Galatians 2:20; 2 Corinthians 6:14; Ephesians. 1:6) Section X – The Church We believe in the church as a living, spiritual body of which Christ is the head; and of which all regenerate people of this age are a part; that the church is peculiar to the age of grace and is completely distinct from Israel; that the local church is a group of believers, fully immersed in water by believer’s baptism on profession of faith and associated for the purpose of glorifying God through worship, instruction, fellowship and evangelism; that local churches have the absolute right to self-government free from interference of any hierarchy; that its only Scriptural officers are Pastor(s) (also called “Elder(s)” and/or “Bishop(s)”) and Deacons, whose qualifications, claims and duties are defined in the Epistles to Timothy and Titus; that every believer should align himself with a local church and give full cooperation and participation to its ministries. (Matthew 16:16-18; 28:19-20; 1 Corinthians 1:1-13; 11:2; 23-34; Acts 5:11; 8:1; 11:21-23; Philippians 1:1; Acts 14:23; 15:22; 1 Timothy 3; Titus 1; Acts 20:17, 28) Section XI – The Ordinances We believe that there are two ordinances for the local church: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper; that baptism is by single immersion for believers and is a prerequisite to the privileges of church membership, that the Lord’s Supper is a commemoration of the Lord’s death until He comes again and should be preceded always by a solemn self-examination, and that these ordinances are to be performed only under the authority of the local church. (Acts 8:36-39; Matthew 3:5-6; 28:19; Romans 6:4; Acts 2:41-42, 1 Corinthians 11:26-28) Section XII –The Great Commission We believe that the Great Commission is a divine commandment for this age, and as such primarily involves evangelism, discipleship and church planting at home and abroad. We also believe that the fulfillment of the Great Commission is the primary purpose, mission and goal for this local church. (Matthew 28:16-20; Mark 16:15-18; Luke 24: 46-48; John 17:18; 20:21; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 15:6) Section XIII – Last Things We believe in the pre-tribulation and pre-millennial return of Christ; that after the rapture of the church there will be seven years of tribulation on earth; that this will be followed by the personal visible return of Christ to put down His enemies and set up a thousand years millennial reign; that at the end of this reign, Satan will be loosed for a season and then cast into the lake of fire, that at this time the second resurrection for all unsaved will take place; that they will be judged at the Great White Throne and will be condemned to eternal torment in the lake of fire; that Christ will reign forever as King of Kings and Lord of Lords with the righteous eternally. (Matthew 28:6-7; Mark 16:19; Hebrews 7:25; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1 Corinthians 15:20-58; Matthew 24:21, 22; Revelation 7:14; Luke 1:32; Isaiah 9:6, 7; Revelation 20:11-15; 2 Corinthians 4:17; Hebrews 12:23; Revelation 21 – 22.) Section XIV – Marriage & Sexuality We believe that term “marriage” has only one meaning and that is marriage sanctioned by God which joins one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Gen. 2:24-25) We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to only occur between a man and a woman who are married to each other. We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. (Leviticus 18, 20) We believe that any form of sexual immorality, such as adultery, fornication, homosexuality, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, pornography or any attempt to change one’s sex, or disagreement with one’s biological sex, is sinful and offensive to God. We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of the church as the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to the church members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by the church in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, should abide by and agree to this statement on Marriage & Sexuality and conduct themselves accordingly. We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of the church.
