Meet The Pastor
Dr. Paul N. Shafit
Pastor Paul N Shafit, DD was born into a Jewish family in 1942. He grew up in The Bronx, NY under the tutelage of his grandfather who was an elder in the synagogue. He studied the Scriptures with the Elders of the Lubavitcher movement from the age of six.
In 1972 he was appointed to the office of Assistant Rabbi at the Mastic Beach Heebrew Center, in Mastic Beach, N.Y. where he served until 1974.
Not satisfied with his spiritual experience, he sought additional light through further study of the Word of God. His search led him to accept Christ Jesus as his Savior. Separating from the synagogue he sought, and was granted ordination, in The Holy Light Baptist Church of Philadelphia, Pa.
He studied comparative religion, philosophy, and the mystery religions at great length as he sought more light and a deeper understanding of the meaning of life and after years of seeking His truth, God himself showed him His revelation according to His Holy Scriptures. What He has done for so many others, He has done for Pastor Paul. He came from darkness into new life. From that day forward, his life changed.
God allowed Satan to sift Pastor Paul by coming against his family in order to chasten and prepare him for the anointed ministry and service to men.
In 1992 he became an evangelist under the covering of the Missionary Methodist Church. In 1994 God led him to become assistant pastor of the Full Gospel Church of God in Christ in Canoga Park, Ca. He was called as pastor, when Elder Ford Johnson was called to another city, a position he held until February of 2000.
During the ensuing year and a half he travelled to the poorest areas of Baja Mexico to preach a restorative gospel and to work with then Bishop Samuel Moore in establishing and administering churches. During that time he worked with COCERA which was a network of drug and alcohol rehabilitation missions as well, serving for a short time on their board of directors.
In September of 2001 Paul became pastor of The Welcome Home Church of God in Christ in Canoga Park, Ca. serving until 2008.
In late 2009 then retired Pastor Paul N Shafit regularly pursued his devotional time at a local fast food restaurant. Soon a few homeless folks gathered and began asking questions and studying the bible with him. This grew into a homeless feeding and service in a local park. In February of 2010 Jeffrey Arthur began coming out to the study and than to the feeding. Soon following we began to meet on Sunday mornings at 21318 Saticoy St in Canoga Park. We moved to our present location at 7021C Canoga Ave. on December 1st 2013.
In addition to the study mentioned above, he graduated from Calvary Chapel Bible Ministry School, and holds a M.A. in Theology from Saint Luke Evangelical School of Biblical Studies and a DD from Slidell Baptist Seminary.
Pastor and his wife Patricia live in Canoga Park, Ca. Their children are all adults and are living in various cities across the USA.
