I have been a member of the church of christ for about 5 years. I been to this church one time, the congregation seemed like some nice people, and the preacher seemed knowledgeable about the word. After that I ran into some hard times, and fell from grace. I"ve known for awhile I needed to fix this, I ran into another problem today and needed to print out 8 pages for my SSDI that are due in two days, and both my printers are out of ink and I am broke. I remembered that church, and thought maybe they would help me out. I called the number on their website and told the preacher that I had fallen from grace and would like to get back on track, and also about my SSDI problem. His response was referring me to a closed government office, gave me directions, and didn't even say anything about my religious needs. Apparently eight pages of ink must be too much cost, and my spiritual needs can be solved at a government office. I happened to mention that the office was closed, and he had no response, other than go there tomorrow. At that point I just said really appreciate the help and hung up the phone. I would just like to remind him of a couple scriptures. matthew 7:7-12 and James 2:12-17 Matthew 7 7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? 10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? 12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. James 2 12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. 13 For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment. 14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
