Meet The Pastor

Rev. Dr. David A. deSilva
I have served primarily as director of traditional worship here at PCUMC, but was appointed interim pastor in October 2017. I anticipate returning to my normal duties in July 2018 with the appointment of a new pastor. Nevertheless, it is my joy and privilege to be serving this congregation in both capacities for the present time, and I would love to be able to welcome you to any of our services of worship or meet you in some other venue to share with you this church's vision, ethos, and aspirations. I have also served as Professor of New Testament and Greek at Ashland Theological Seminary in Ohio, an appointment that has continued since 2014 from a distance as I teach my course load fully online. You are welcome to visit my (slightly outdated) website: https://sites.google.com/a/ashland.edu/daviddesilvaphd/home. You are also welcome to browse my blog, which contains the manuscripts of the sermons I have preached since October 1, 2017: https://apocryphalwritings.wordpress.com/. The name of the blog is a bit of an inside joke as I have made my mark in scholarship, in large measure, in my writings on the Old Testament Apocrypha. I have also written books or commentaries on Galatians, Hebrews, Jude (I know, who cares?), and Revelation, as well as textbooks on the New Testament and its cultural environment.
