Meet The Pastor
Pastor Mark Moretz
Hello. My name is Pastor Mark Moretz, and I have been serving Concordia, Hagerstown since June of 2018. I am a North Carolina native, and a second career pastor. I spent 30 years in the grocery industry with a chain company managing various store locations and overseeing the grocery/nonfoods operation for a division of (19) stores. I have a Bachelors Degree in Business Management and completed a Masters in Divinity at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis in 2018. As a typical Lutheran youth of the 70s and 80s, I have always been saved. I was born to Christian parents, Baptized as an infant, raised in the Church, Confirmed, and attended the parochial school at my home Church. I have been married to Janise, my wife, for 21 years, and we have five children. Two of our daughters live in NC, and we still have three teenagers at home, another daughter and two sons. I love being a child of God, and I love being a husband and father. I may be a Pastor now and I take that Calling very seriously, but I hope that it shows I am still a real person.
We, at Concordia, would like to invite you to join us for worship, for fellowship, and to work alongside us as we strive to show our neighbors the love of Christ through our hearts, our hands, and our voices. We are beginning to take on new mission opportunities as we are able. We are laying the groundwork to revitalize our congregation and community by adding a youth minister during the next year, adding updated technologies to our facilities, and learning and growing into becoming a mission outpost in Hagerstown. We have a wonderfully friendly congregation, a thriving Preschool (Open Arms Preschool), and lots of opportunities to get involved in mission teams, Bible Studies, Youth Activities, meals together, and fellowship.
