My wife, Cheryl and I have been married 34 years come July 2013. We have six children who are grown and scattered around the world. Our oldest son Nathan and his wife, Ola, have two boys, Filip (4) and Tymek (8 months), and they serve as missionaries in Poland. Our daughter Heidi and her husband, Tyler, teach at the American International School of Cairo, Egypt. Our son Weston and his wife Amber have a daughter, Eden (1 year), and they also serve in Egypt. Our son Austin and his wife, Kayla, has recently served four years in the Air Force and he is currently a student at Oakland University. Our son Cameron is in the Navy and hopes to be a Navy Chaplain one day. Our daughter Annaka was killed in an automobile accident in May of 2000 when she was 17.
I have had the privilege to serve as a youth pastor for four years, two years in Jackson and two years in Romulus. I served as pastor of Amboy Baptist Church in Hillsdale County for five years. I also pastored in Brown City, Michigan for almost 15 years. We have been in Marysville since 2003.
Life is full of uncertainties and these are hard times to navigate with the many challenges that come against us. Finding balance in marriage, family, career and other demands can be difficult to say the least. We find that balance in Jesus Christ who has a strategic plan for each of us. The life He offers is not worry free, but He does give us peace in the midst of life's storms and He assures us of His abiding presence and enabling power.
