Meet The Pastor

Rev. T.J. Lucas
Just about every church probably has a sign outside that says, “All are welcome” with their worship time. In fact, it is on our sign as well! However, I know from being an unchurched person myself that being welcomed isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when visiting a church! It is intimidating! Will the church cave in or set on fire because of who I am or the type of relationship I have or don’t have with God? What is the service going to be like? Will these people judge me? What do they expect me to believe? Well, let me address the first concern. I have yet to cause a church to cave in or spontaneously combust in my presence so I can assure you that you can visit us safely! haha. As for other concerns, don’t sweat it. Come as you are--dress up or down, tattoos or piercings, make-up or all natural, noisy kids or totally solo, whatever the case may be, you are welcome to worship with us online or in person. And no matter where you are on your faith journey, I don’t think the church exists to tell you what to believe or that you have to be a perfect person. I believe the church exists as a group of imperfect people seeking God together. As a pastor, I am here to offer tools of the faith not indoctrinate people with answers. And honestly, not everyone in the congregation believes or thinks the same as me or even as each other--and that’s a good thing! We don’t have to be carbon copies of each other! So come with questions, be yourself, gain some tools, and let’s seek some answers together! A little about me: I have a Masters degree from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (the school Mr. Roger's went to!) and I also have a BS in Speech-language Pathology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I have helped to start two non-profits to address the issues of addiction and food scarcity with children. I also serve on various boards and committees in an attempt to support my local communities. In my free time I like to paint, read, practice yoga, and hike with my family. I have two daughters, a wonderful husband who is also a pastor, and two furbabies (a dog and cat). Please feel free to reach out so I can get to know you! Brightest Blessings, Pastor Trista (T.J.) Lucas
