Elder Barry D. Braan Jr
Elder Barry D. Braan Jr. is a native Washingtonian. After spending most of his life in the streets and serving in the United States Army he conceded to accept God’s call to ministry. In November of 2007 he was licensed as a minister and in June of 2013 he was ordained as Elder under the pastoral leadership of Bishop Lanier C. Twyman Sr. at the St. Stephen Baptist Church (SSBC).
Elder Braan is a graduate of Parkdale High School and has begun seminary at Washington Bible College and studies in Psychology at Liberty University.
From 2006-2009 he served as the Director of the Young Lions Ministry at the St. Stephen Baptist Church as well as a member of the Ministerial Alliance, Youth Ministry, and a faithful Armor Bearer. His ministry continued when called to serve as the Youth Pastor of the Kingdom Baptist Church in Waldorf, MD under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth A. Brown in 2010. There he provided leadership as the Director of Youth to the Kingdom Fellowship of Churches.
This ministry assignment was interrupted by a deployment with the US Army where he continued in ministry in the deserts of Kuwait. While serving the United States Army as a soldier during this deployment, Elder Braan continued to serve the Lord by teaching bible study, making disciples, and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ in local church assemblies.
After returning from Kuwait Elder Braan returned to SSBC. He served as Assistant Youth Director, Armor Bearer, as well as a member of the Mr. and Mrs. Marriage Ministry Core Leadership team, and Ministerial Alliance.
In 2014 Elder Braan began serving as the Campus Pastor at St. Stephen Baptist Church at Trinity Terrace. This ministry offers worship services and bible studies in a Senior Living Community.
In 2015 The Lord uprooted Elder Braan and his family and moved them to North East Tennessee with the assignment to serve. Later that year he joined in service with Central Baptist Church in Kingsport where he served as Youth Pastor until the Lord opened a door in Bristol, TN in Early 2016. Elder Braan now serves as Pastor of Greater Life Church located in the heart of Kingsport, TN.
In June of 2010 Elder Braan married the woman of his dreams, Minister Angela L. Braan. They are the proud parents of four wonderful gifts from God. Elder and Minister Braan are the Founders of And Adam Knew Eve Marriage Ministry. This ministry was birthed in 2012 with the heart of reconciliation and a goal of reducing the divorce rate to zero. This won’t be done by having laws written or changing legislature but by fostering change in people that will lead to successful marriages. This ministry provides biblically married and engaged couples the environment where they are encouraged and equipped to fight through the various challenges that marriage presents.
