Great Christian community. Bible, family and community based. I felt welcomed and at home on my first visit. Pastors and members are caring and sincere. Very good children’s program. Highly recommended!

We currently partner with the following local missions:
St. Columba Ecumenical Ministries provides assistance to those in need through a Day Care Center, Next Stop Transitional Housing, food pantry, clothing closet, and financial, rental and utility assistance. Due to their professionalism and comprehensive screening process, Second refers those seeking immediate daily assistance to them.
Park Place Child Life Center’s goal is to transform the lives of children living in Norfolk’s Park Place neighborhood through arts-based programs designed to advance literacy and encourage a lifetime love of learning through after school literacy and arts activities and year-round Saturday enrichment programs for children 6-17.
St. Mary's Soup Kitchen provides a healthy meal of home made soup, sandwiches and other foods to 120+ children and adults Saturday mornings weekly. Second provides volunteers regularly and staffs the entire operation monthly by making and serving 20 gallons of soup and 200 sandwiches.
NEST is a coalition of churches that on a rotating basis provides meals and shelter to homeless single adults during the months of November through April.
ForKids' mission is to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness for families and children. They assist about 150 families weekly through emergency shelters, transitional housing, permanent supportive housing, and in-home care management.
Youth Outreach Urban Resources & Services (YOURS) is a faith based urban leadership development and outreach program for at-risk middle and high school teenagers. Its goal is to give teenagers an opportunity to experience positive life outcomes through Christian based values and to nurture their faith within a multi-cultural peer group around their school, community and in the world.
ODU Global Friendship Organization’s goal is to reach future leaders of the world who come from 100+ nations to study in Norfolk, and leave a lasting impression about this nation and the Christians who live here. Second will host dinner for the students, provide welcome bags to new international students, have members host students in their homes, and give financial grants.
Jenn West - International Students Ministry. Jenn is on staff with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship working with international students in Amsterdam. She works to help grow relationships with existing and new international students, disciple Christian students, and empower, train and encourage others in international student ministry. Jenn also works to equip Dutch students to have a heart for their Muslim neighbors and cultivates cross cultural ministry in Amsterdam and the whole of the Netherlands.
The Seidls are New Mission Systems Intl. (NMSI) missionaries living in Berlin, Germany. Their passion is to influence the emerging generation with the Gospel through relationships and creativity. For the past 8 years they have been working along side RESET Berlin, a German church that meets and runs out of a café. They have been using their gifts and talents in music and design to help RESET love God, love people, and love the city. RESET and NMSI both share a common vision for church multiplication. It is their desire to see new churches started in Berlin. With that in mind, the Seidls along with two other elders from RESET are exploring starting a new church in their part of town, Neukölln.
Jake Kerr - Ethnos 360 missionary. Jake is a missionary who works for Ethnos 360. The goal of this organization is to reach the unreached people groups of the world through tribal church planting and Bible translation. He is currently working in the organization's headquarters in Florida to update software the missionaries use to learn a country's language, in turn allowing the missionaries to translate the Bible effectively. At the headquarters he is able to serve over 2000 missionaries in his organization around the world. Also, Jake is currently attending Liberty University (online) to obtain a Bachelor's of Science in Information Technology which will help further his IT skills.
Holy Trinity Catholic Church Food Pantry. The pantry has 3 Second volunteers that help with client intake and selecting and bagging food to meet patrons' needs. The pantry receives both food and monetary donations at its Ocean View campus on Government Street. The pantry is open Monday through Thursday afternoons from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.
Tidewater Pastoral Counseling Services. TPCS is a not-for-proft extension of the Judeo-Christian faith community dedicated to providing quality pastoral counseling and education to anyone regardless of age, race, faith perspective or socio-economic background. Organized in 1974, TPCS serves more the 1,500 clients annually in nine church based centers throughout Hampton Roads. Our church supports this organization by allowing them to utilize office and counseling space in our building.

As “Presbyterian,” we know that “all have fallen short of the glory of God,” but never short of God’s loving care (Romans 3:23-24).
As “Second,” we know that—just like churches—each of us sometimes needs a second start and a second chance (Luke 15:11-32; John 8:1-11).
