Meet The Pastor

Senior Pastor Theo Peugh
The eldest son of Adolph and Barbara Peugh, the Reverend Theloniaus “Theo” Peugh Sr. was born in Houston, Texas. After receiving his diploma from Jesse H. Jones High School, he attended Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. He completed his undergraduate studies in Psychology and received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1993. He went on to receive his Juris Doctorate Degree from Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University in 1996. In November 1996 he was licensed by the State Bar of Texas. He currently serves as an assistant public defender in Dallas County, Texas. ​ Reverend Peugh accepted Christ at an early age and his parents kept him involved in church growing up. He was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church where he was baptized as a child. Later, his family joined Brentwood Baptist Church and he was an active member there until he relocated to the Dallas/Fort Worth Area in 1998. ​ Reverend Peugh was licensed as a minister at Union Cathedral Church by Senior Pastor Richie Butler on April 11, 2004. During his tenure at Union Cathedral, he served as the Administrative Pastor and as a church elder. Prior to being selected to serve as Senior Pastor of CenterPointe Baptist Church, he served as the Youth Pastor under the Interim and Founding Pastor Dr. Roy Cotton. Reverend Peugh was ordained on October 24, 2015 and was installed as Senior Pastor on October 25, 2015. Reverend Peugh is a Life Member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and has held elected offices within the organization at the chapter, state and regional levels. Additionally, he is a former chairman of the DeSoto Zoning Board of Adjustment where he served as a member of the Board for over six years. ​ On July 31, 2004, Reverend Peugh married the love of his life, Gilberta Dickey. He and Gilberta have been blessed with two wonderful children, Gabrielle and Theloniaus Jr. ​ Reverend Peugh is extremely grateful and humbled by GOD’s calling. He is committed to doing his very best to lead the congregation of CenterPointe Baptist Church and to share the Good News of the Gospel with as many people as possible.
