About Providence Reformed Baptist Church

Founded in 1997, Providence Reformed Baptist Church is a local body of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ committed to worshiping God in spirit and truth. It is our desire to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world so that God might be glorified as sinners are saved and saints sanctified through the power of His Word. We hold to the Doctrines of Grace and firmly embrace the Five Solas of the Reformation. We hold as our Confession of Faith the First (1646) and Second (1689) London Baptist Confessions of Faith, as amended by Charles H. Spurgeon.
Denomination / Affiliation: Reformed
Service and Sermon Style: Verse-by-Verse Teaching

BELIEFS

As descendants in faith and practice to the rich heritage and history of the Reformation and the Particular Baptist Churches of England and America, we count it all joy to follow in the footsteps of great men of God, theologians, preachers, and pastors like John Wycliffe, John Hus, Martin Luther, William Tyndale, John Calvin, the Puritans, George Whitefield, Jonathan Edwards, and especially great Baptist men of faith like Benjamin Keach, John Bunyan, and Charles H. Spurgeon. We follow them because they followed Jesus Christ. Just as they believed, we hold to the Doctrines of Grace and firmly embrace the Five Solas of the Reformation. We hold as our Confession of Faith the First (1646) and Second (1689) London Baptist Confessions of Faith, as amended by Charles H. Spurgeon. Other distinctives of our church include following a model for worship regulated by the Holy Scriptures. Following the example given to us in Acts 2:42 we teach the “apostles doctrine” by way of expository preaching and the public reading of the Word of God, we “fellowship” and prove our love for one another in the body as often as we have opportunity, we partake of the ordinances, the Lord’s Table by the “breaking of bread” observing the Lord’s Supper weekly and the Baptism of believers as necessary, and we are a church of “prayer.” We find further direction for corporate worship in Ephesians 5:18-21 in the singing of “psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.” Other elements of our worship include occasions of individual and corporate fasting (Matthew 6:16-18) and the giving of thanks including freely and cheerfully giving our tithes and offerings to the Lord (1 Thess 5:16-21; 2 Cor 9:6-8). Our church is associated with the Fellowship of Independent Reformed Evangelicals.
