Service Times
Urbanna Baptist Church has two service times. Our early service meets at 9:00 AM, and from Easter to early November it meets at the amphitheater at the Bethpage Campground. The campground service is causal (many people wear swim suits or shorts when it gets warm out). Our 11:00 AM service is in the sanctuary at UBC and is more traditional in format. Both services provide a warm atmosphere for worship, great music, and Biblical preaching.

About Urbanna Baptist Church

Visitors are always welcome here! UBC is committed to Reaching, Nurturing, Creating and Living for Christ. Our church is friendly, engaged in the lives of families, and committed to missions, both locally and globally through strategic partnerships with sister organizations. UBC has something for the entire family, from first years to golden years. Come be our guest this week! “I would love to connect with you and your family! At Urbanna Baptist, there is a is a place for you to grow in your journey of faith. Come join us as we journey together!” -Pastor Jonathan Davis Visitor FAQs: Q) Where can I park? A) UBC’s parking is located off of Watling Street. We have east and west parking lots, with accessible entryways on the east side of the complex (carport side of the building). If the parking lots seem full, no worries! Just park on either side of the street. Q) Once I park, where should I take my kids? A) Our nursery (infants – 4 years old) is on the bottom floor of UBC’s two-story education building. For Sunday School, elementary aged students meet upstairs on the west end of the building, and middle-school through high-school meets in the youth room in the basement (there’s even a pool table!). Just go inside the double doors from either parking lot and a teacher or volunteer will help you and your child get to the right room. Q) What’s the atmosphere like at Urbanna Baptist? A) Urbanna Baptist strives to be warm and inviting to all people. People from all walks of life come to UBC each week. Every family has its own dysfunction and none of us are perfect, because the church is not a refuge from sinners, but a hospital for them. If you’re not perfect and if you’re seeking a closer relationship with God, UBC may be a great place to find community, authenticity, and outlets for service. Some people come dressed casually while others wear suits or dresses. Come as you are. Q) What should I expect worship to be like? A) UBC currently has two expressions of Sunday worship. Our 9:00 AM campground service (running from Easter Sunday to early November at Bethpage campground), and our 11:00 AM traditional service. Both services have engaging music, relevant and practical teaching times, and time for response and reflection. Our prayer is when we gather for worship each week, we leave having experienced God in a powerful way.

BELIEFS

Urbanna Baptist believes that the authority for faith and practice is God’s word, the Bible. With that said, we realize that faith is best understood as a conversation, not as a set of rigid beliefs. Each person brings their own experience, reason, and understanding of Christian tradition to the table when it comes to matters of belief. Not everyone at Urbanna Baptist believes the same thing about some things, but on the big ideas there is agreement. St. Augustine said that this regarding Christians, and matters of belief: “in essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, charity.“ We agree. Urbanna Baptist is a diverse congregation made up of people from different family and faith backgrounds, political parties, and socio-economic levels. All are welcome here. A confessional statement called the Baptist Faith and Message of 1963 summarizes our church’s beliefs about many things. This statement is a summary of beliefs that a particular group of Baptists affirmed at a particular point in history, and is a product of the time in which it was written. The language is dated in some cases, but the message still stands. If you have any specific questions about what UBC believes, please feel free to contact our pastor, Jonathan Davis.
