About Destiny Church

We exist so that people far from God will be raised to life in Christ. Led by Pastor Eric Madden, Destiny Church is based in Albertville, Alabama. We know that God is moving through His church, and we want you to be a part of it. We are a inter-denominational church, we unite people from all kinds of denominational backgrounds. This is a great strength of our church. There are a lot of different reasons that lead people to visit our fellowship. Some are looking for meaningful relationships. Others are trying to build a new foundation of faith for themselves and their family. Something to give their life to. Purpose. Rest. At Destiny Church, we believe that all of the important things find their place within a life committed to Jesus Christ. The Bible has a name for a group of people from different backgrounds and different places joining together around the person of Jesus - "church." At Destiny Church each person has value because they are created by God. There aren't certain groups that God loves more than others so we try not to do that either. We look for what we have in common. I hope you will feel welcome here, stay awhile, and discover how you fit in this fellowship. God leads people to places they need to go. God has led you here. To be encouraged. To fix what is broken. To help someone else. To encounter Jesus. To come to life. A church that reflects the character and nature of God has a great impact on our world. A guiding concept that is helping us become the church we want to be is, "Helping one another know Jesus by sharing the gospel and our lives". From this perspective we have developed three intentional environments in which we understand and experience God at Destiny Church

BELIEFS

The Bible We believe the Bible is God's inspired word and was given to provide instruction for what we should believe and how we should live our lives. We believe that the Bible is accurate and reliable, was written under direct inspiration from God, and is completely authoritative for all Christians. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19-21) God We believe that there is one true God, the Creator of the universe, who eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19; John 1:1,14; John 14:26; 1 Peter 1:2) Jesus We believe that Jesus was God's only begotten Son, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, voluntarily died on the cross for our sins, and was bodily raised from the dead. He ascended into heaven and now sits at the right hand of the Father and acts as an intermediary on our behalf. One day Jesus will return to earth and initiate the consummation of human history. (John 1:1-18; Acts 2:22-41; Philippians 2:1-11) The Holy Spirit We believe the Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son of God. The Holy Spirit provides power to overcome sin, insight into Scripture, and personal direction in life. All believers are given the gift of the Holy Spirit at conversion, and through the Holy Spirit's presence and power are enabled to attain spiritual maturity in Christ. Through the Holy Spirit each person in the body is given certain gifts to use in ministry. (Luke 11:13; John 16:13; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:11) Salvation We believe that a human being's central purpose for existence is to have a close and personal relationship with God. Originally created for that purpose, humans defied God, choosing to go their own independent way, and were thus alienated from God. This "Fall" took place at the beginning of human history, and all individuals since have suffered these consequences and are in need of God's forgiveness and mercy. A person can be forgiven by God and have that close, personal relationship restored by believing that Jesus is God's Son, repenting of their sin, and being immersed for the forgiveness of their sins. (John 3:16; Acts 2:38; Romans 3:23, 10:9; 1 John 1:9) Worship We believe worship is fundamental to the abundant life of a growing Christian. We encourage all expressions of worship we read about in the Bible. Our worship style is highly expressive and seeks to be culturally relevant. We desire to glorify our Risen Lord through planned and spontaneous combination of energetic praise and personal, intimate prayer. Human Destiny We believe that everyone will live forever after they die. Where one spends eternity will depend on what they do with Jesus. For all humankind there will be a resurrection into the spiritual world and a judgment that will determine the fate of each individual. Because unbelievers have rejected Jesus, they will be separated from His presence for all eternity in hell. Believers will be received into heaven to be with God for all eternity. (John 3:36; Revelation 20-22 Water Baptism We believe being baptised in water is a testimony to our faith in Jesus, and is a symbol of the cleansing power of His blood. Communion We believe in taking communion to remember what Jesus did for us on the cross and to praise and honor Him for that sacrifice. Personal Relationship We believe every believer has a personal relationship with Jesus and should be growing that relationship by reading and obeying God's Word, and prayer and praise to our Lord. Church Government We believe the pattern of the New Testament teaches that Christ is the Head of the Church. We believe all decisions and direction must come through and be confirmed by Him, through His Word and by His Holy Spirit. Under Christ’s leadership, we place appointed elders/pastors with scriptural qualifications in authority over the establishment of policy, practices and protection of our church, with the senior pastor as chief elder. We believe all the members of our congregation are ministers of Christ and the work of the ministry is done by them, assigned by and carried out as the result of the uniquespiritual gifts each person has received from God. What we believe about… You We believe it is no accident you have crossed paths with Destiny Church. We believe your interestshows a genuine hunger for God. We also know that God has a unique and specific plan for your life. We would be honored to be a part of your spiritual growth journey.
