BELIEFS
THE BIBLE:
The word "Bible" is not found in the Old or New Testaments. It is usually referred to as the "Scriptures" or "God's Word." We believe the Scriptures are God's words to this world. They are inspired by the Holy Spirit and used to reveal God to His people. They are the authority in our Church. 2 Timothy 3:16,17; 2 Peter 1:19-21
THE TRINITY:
As the word suggests, there are three persons in the Trinity. They are God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. They are individuals, unique and equal. Jesus refers to the Trinity in Matthew 28:19 and Paul speaks of them in 2 Corinthians 13:14.
THE FATHER:
God the Father is the first person of the Trinity. He is the creator of the universe and is always working for that which is good. We believe God is a Spirit Eternal and unchangeable. He is Holy, Perfect, Goodness and Truth. Genesis 1:1; Romans 8:28
THE SON:
The Son is the second person of the Trinity, Jesus Christ. We believe He is the Son of God who came to give His life on the Cross. We also believe that God and Jesus are one. John 10:30; John 3:16
THE HOLY SPIRIT:
The Holy Spirit is the third person in the Trinity. Jesus said He would send us a comforter when He returned to heaven. John 14:26 This is the Holy Spirit or the Holy Ghost. The work of the Holy Spirit is to convict, teach and guide us into all truth. John 16:13; John 16:8
SALVATION:
Jesus once said, "You must be born again, if you are to see the kingdom of God." (John 3:3) We believe Jesus came to die on the cross for our sins. "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) When we confess our sins and invite Him in our hearts we are born again. This is salvation from eternal death to eternal life. John 3:16; Romans 10:9,10,13
THE RESURRECTION:
We believe that those who believe in Jesus as their saviour will rise again in the next life. We believe that when death occurs the soul leaves the body and goes to be with the Lord. When Christ returns there will be a bodily resurrection of the dead in Christ will rise first. We do not believe in soul sleeping or in reincarnation. 1 Thessalonians 4:16,17; John 10:25; Ecclesiastes 12:7; 2 Corinthians 5:8
THE RAPTURE:
The words "Rapture" and "Second Coming" are not found in the Bible but Jesus told His disciples that He would return some day. We do not know the exact time or place but believe we should be ready for Him. It has been said, that Jesus will come as a thief in the night. Acts 1:11; Matthew 24:30; Matthew 24:42-44
THE SACRAMENTS:
The "Sacrament" was originally an oath taken by a Roman soldier to obey His commander. The word has been passed down to identify the two sacraments we have in our Church. They are "Baptism" and "The Lord's Supper." The reason, we have two, is Christ commanded us to be baptized and to observe the Last Supper. Matthew 28:19,20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
OUR CHURCH:
In (Romans 10:13) we read, "for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Anyone, regardless of ethnic Origin, culture, or church denomination is welcome in our fellowship. Jesus loved all kinds of people who came to Him, male and female, Jew and Gentile, child and adult, so do we. All who believe in Christ are invited to take Communion with us on the first Sunday of each month. Romans 10:10,12,13; Galatians 3:28
THE APOSTLE'S CREED:
(We are not certain when this creed was written. Some believe it was by the original Apostles. This brief statement of faith tells of the work of God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. And others totally agree with its rendering.)
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth: And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy Christian church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
