Our Mission

Ephesians 3:9 And to make all [men] see what [is] the fellowship of the mystery [secret of the gospel], which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: It was not till after Israel had rejected her King that God revealed what was His secret but "eternal purpose" all along: to put "no difference" between Jew and Gentile. And who better to make the "masterbuilder" (1Cor 3:10) of this message of pure grace than the leader of Israel's rebellion? Paul, the "chief of sinners"! The authority Moses had in his day is like unto the authority given Paul in ours. Please check us out.

BELIEFS

The Berean Church is a mid-Acts Dispensational Bible church (yep that's a mouthful, but don't let it scare you): What Does Berean mean? The Bible reference is that of a city in ancient Greece. It is a commercial center of Greek Macedonia, the capital of the province of Imathia. Berea (now Veria) was prominent from the 4th century BC and part of the Kingdom of Macedonia. Part of Rome from 168 BC, both the apostle Paul and Silas preached there in AD 54 or 55. What is relevant about that city is what the Scriptures say about some of it's residents in Acts 17:11 "These [Bereans] were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." The Berean Church of Thornton first started meeting in the home of Pastor Win Johnson in 1958. The Berean Church is independent and nondenominational (not supported by a denomination or part of an organized religion). We are dispensational (which means we believe in the simplicity and practicality of God's message for today), and believe God has given us everything we need to have "the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery (or secret) of God, and of the Father, and of Christ" (Colossians 2:2). This is made possible by one being like the Berean's: confirm what you hear by searching the Bible for yourself daily (Acts 17:11). We exist for the purpose of equipping believers to do just that; our small group size and relaxed atmosphere make it so you can ask questions about the Bible that you may be afraid to ask elsewhere. The practical result of understanding and enjoyment of God's holy Word is that hearts are being comforted, and we are becoming knit together in the love of Christ! If the Bible is enjoyed, then daily Bible study is not a burden and truly is the food for closer fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ; this filling with the Spirit (cp Ephesians 5:18,19 with Colossians 3:16) cannot help but spill out into the lives of others. The Word of God is coming under more and more attacks lately, many falsely saying it is 'full of contradictions', but our focus has not changed. We pray we would be able to defend the truth of the Word and follow 1 Peter 3:15: "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear." About Pastor Bennett Boothe Senior Pastor Bennett graduated from Texas A&M University in 1983 with a degree in "Pre-Theology" (Humanistic Sociology). Here he learned education's "brightest and best" could not satisfactorily answer the question: 'Is deviant behavior learned or inherited?' (We think the answer is "YES!") Having gotten a full view of secular humanism, Bennett's education since turned to "on the job training". Bennett taught Bible studies for ten years in Texas and moved to Colorado in 1993. With no formal seminary training, it has necessarily been his marriage of more than 25 years, raising three faithful children, and a holding down a full time secular career that have made his messages practical in nature; if he can find time to study the Bible, then you can too! Since he was saved in mid summer of 1978, Bennett has been involved in daily Bible studies; and he will be the first to tell you that all the glory goes to God for the things he has seen in God's perfect Word. Board members The following members comprise the board of Berean Church: Bennett Boothe, pastor Bill Bingham Chuck Cirbo Curtis Bradley Three primary ideas you'll hear at Berean Church: Forgiveness is free and available because Christ died once and for all time (to die no more), for all (that's YOU), and for all our sins (past, present, and future; 1Corinthians 15.3) All that we suffer today is designed, not to punish us but to help us identify with the sufferings of Christ. This daily identification eventually leads to a transformation: The life we have in Christ is the direct and supernaturally powerful result of patient continuance in #2 above and a constant remembrance that He rose from the dead so He could live through us and give us hope for a purpose in this life and in the life to come!
Eternal Security: No, Can't Lose
Healing and Charismatic Gifts: Ceased
