About The Apostolic Church of the Restoration

The Church of the Apostolic Restoration is founded upon the life and ministry of Jesus Christ as they are revealed in the Bible, the written Word of God. It has its foundation of faith and practice in the Gospels and the other writings of the New Testament as interpreted by the Church's Bishop under the direction of the Holy Spirit, and is oriented towards the restoration of true Christianity and the proclamation of Christ's imminent Second Coming.

BELIEFS

About the Bible The Bible is the infallible written Word of God and the authority for salvation and Christian living when properly interpreted via the Bishop through the power of the Holy Spirit. We believe that the life, ministry, and teachings of Jesus Christ are the lens through which we are to view all other passages in the Old and New Testaments. (See John 14:26; Acts 2:42; I Corinthians 2:13; II Corinthians 10:8; II Timothy 3:15-17) About God There is one Triune God, who has revealed Himself as Father in love; through His Son, in redemption; and as the Holy Spirit, in power and presence. Jesus Christ was God manifest in flesh. He is both God and man. Everything we know about God, we know through Christ. All three persons of the Trinity are eternal and uncreated. (See Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1-14; John 14:26; Ephesians 4:4-6; Colossians 2:9; I Timothy 3:16) About Sin and Salvation Everyone has sinned and is in need of salvation. Salvation comes by the grace of God through faith based on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and through water baptism in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and continues if the believer perseveres in faith. Those without faith are condemned to eternal destruction and separation from God; those who place faith in Christ are promised eternal life with Him in the New Heaven and New Earth. The 144,000 will rule with Him at His Second Coming. Through the grace of God, members of the Church may be baptized for the salvation of their loved ones who have died in unbelief (baptism by proxy). (See Luke 12:32; Romans 3:23-25; 6:23; I Corinthians 15:29; Hebrews 6:4-8; Ephesians 2:8-9; Philippians 3:19; II Thessalonians 1:9; II Peter 3:7; II Peter 3:10-13; Revelation 14:3) About the Gospel The saving gospel is the good news that Jesus, the Word, became incarnate as a human being, died because of our sins, was buried and battled the forces of Satan, and rose again victorious in bodily form. We obey the gospel by repentance (death to sin), water baptism in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (burial), and the baptism of the Holy Spirit leading to fullness of life (resurrection). Only the gospel can truly set us free. (See John 1:14; Romans 5:8; Colossians 2:13-15; Matthew 28:5-6; Acts 3:19; Matthew 28:10; Acts 1:9; Acts 4:31) About Christian Living As followers of Christ in the restored apostolic succession and in His one True Church, we are to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength and love others as ourselves. We should live a holy, humble life inwardly and outwardly, share the good news with all around us, and worship God joyfully. The supernatural gifts of the Spirit, including healing and apostolic revelation, are for the church today and operate according to one's faith. (See Mark 12:28-31; Luke 10:27; II Corinthians 7:1; Hebrews 12:14; I Corinthians 12:8-10; I Peter 5:10; I John 5:4) About the Future Jesus Christ is coming again to be physically present with His church and to establish His kingdom on Earth and throughout the universe as in heaven. We believe that heaven will not be "out there somewhere," but that salvation will be in a very physical life with Christ forever on a renewed Earth and on habitable planets throughout the universe. We, who are His Church, will populate and righteously govern the new Earth and other worlds with Christ. At the end of this age will be the final resurrection and the final judgment. The righteous will inherit eternal life, and the unrighteous eternal death. (See Matthew 19:28; John 14:2; I Thessalonians 4:16-17; II Peter 3:13; Revelation 20:11-15; Revelation 21:1-27.)
