BELIEFS

Faith Statement God The Shema, "Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one" (Deuteronomy 6:4 NASB1995), teaches God is Echad, as so declared: a united one, a composite unity, eternally existent in plural oneness [Genesis 1:1 NASB1995 (Elohim: God), Genesis 1:26 NASB1995 "Let Us make man in Our image", Genesis 2:24 NASB1995 Adam & Eve were created to be as one flesh (basar echad)], He is a personal God who created us (Genesis 1 & 2 NASB1995), and He exists forever in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, as mentioned in Romans 8:14-17 NASB1995 (Father, Spirit, and Messiah — Son) and Matthew 28:18-20 NASB1995 (immersing in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). God eternally exists as the Father, Son, Holy Spirit, and His Holy Word. - John 1:1-3, 1:14, 8:58 NASB1995, Deut. 6:4 NASB1995, Matt. 28:19 NASB1995, Ex. 3:14 NASB1995 God the Father (Abba) He is Our Heavenly Father. John 6:27 NASB1995, 1 Corinthians 1:3 NASB1995, Galatians 1:1 NASB1995, Revelation 3:5 , 21 NASB1995, Jeremiah 3:4, 19; 31:9 NASB1995, Malachi 1:6 NASB1995, Matthew 6:9, 32 NASB1995, Luke 10:21-22 NASB1995, John 1:14, 4:23, 5:17-26, 6:28-46 NASB1995, Romans 8:14-15 NASB1995 God the Son (Haben) The Son is God (Deity), and is worshiped as God, having existed eternally. Psalm 110:1 (cf. Hebrews 1:13) NASB1995, Isaiah 9:6-7 NASB1995, Matthew 28:18-20 NASB1995, Philippians 2:5-11 NASB1995, Colossians 1:15-19 NASB1995, Revelation 3:21 (Hebrews 1 - worshiped by angels) NASB1995, Revelations 4:8, 5:5-14 NASB1995. This One is the promised Mashiach (Messiah) of Israel (Isaiah 9:6-7, 11:1 NASB1995, Daniel 9 NASB1995 (especially verses 20-26), Isaiah 53 NASB1995, John 1:17, 40-41, 45, 49 NASB1995, Mark 8:29 NASB1995). He is the root and offspring of David, the bright and morning star (Numbers 24:17 NASB1995, Revelation 22:16 NASB1995). He is our Passover, the Lamb of God. 1 Corinthians 5:7 NASB1995, Revelation 5 NASB1995, John 1:29 NASB1995 God the Holy Spirit (Ruach Hakodesh) Introduced in Genesis 1:2 NASB1995 "And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters." In the Tenach, the Spirit of God came upon individuals during the times of our forefathers, like Moses, David (2 Samuel 23:1-3 NASB1995), and the Prophets, for the specific purposes. In the New Covenant, the Messiah Yeshua, promised His disciples "the Comforter" would come to them after He was gone, described as the Spirit of Truth (John 14:17, 26 NASB1995), who was with them and would be in them. Yeshua further declared the Spirit of Truth, would guide us into all truth and would glorify Him — the Messiah — not Himself (John 16:13-15 NASB1995). He empowers us (Acts 1:8 NASB1995). The Spirit of God seals us (Ephesians 1:13; 4:30 NASB1995 (see NIV)). If we have not the Spirit, we are not His (Romans 8:9 NASB1995). He leads us and teaches us (Romans 8:14-17 NASB1995). His indwelling enables us to live a godly life. Acts 2:38 NASB1995 says, "Repent, be immersed, and receive the Holy Spirit." Bible The Bible is God's Word. It is the infallible expression of His Lordship in written form in the church and in the life of believers. - 2 Timothy 3:16 NASB1995, John 10:34-35, 1 NASB1995, 2 Peter 1:20-21 NASB1995 Sin Men and women are created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27), however because of disobedience, mankind fell from the first state and became separated from God - Genesis 2:17; 3:22-24. Therefore, according to the Scriptures, all humans are born with a sinful nature. Psalm 14:1-3; 49:7; 53:13 NASB1995; Isaiah 64:6 NASB1995; Romans 3:9-12, 23; 5:12 NASB1995 Our Salvation Our only hope for redemption (salvation) is through the atonement made by the Messiah (Leviticus 17:11 NASB1995, Isaiah 53 NASB1995, Daniel 9:24-26 NASB1995, 1 Corinthians 15:22 NASB1995, Hebrews 9:11-14, 28 NASB1995; John 1:12, 3:36 NASB1995), resulting in regeneration by the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5 NASB1995), which is the new birth - John 3:3-8 NASB1995. For by grace we are saved through faith, it is a gift of God. Ephesians 2:8-9 NASB1995 Jesus Christ does away with sin's effect and unites us with God. Salvation is initiated by God's grace and activated by a person's faith expressed through calling on the name of Jesus Christ. This unites God and anyone who will receive Jesus Christ. There is then evidence of salvation in the direct witness of the Spirit and as a life of righteousness and true holiness. 1 Peter 1:15-16, 3:18 NASB1995, 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 NASB1995, 1 John 2:6 NASB1995, Ephesians 2:8, 5:3 NASB1995, Romans 10:31 NASB1995, Acts 2:21 NASB1995, Titus 2:11, 3:5-7 NASB1995, Romans 10:13-15, 8:16 NASB1995, Luke 24:47 NASB1995 Baptism in the Holy Spirit Submersed baptism in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of gifts and speaking in tongues as second works of God's grace in the life of a believer brings power into the believer's life - Acts 1:8, 2:1-4, 10:44-48, 19:6 NASB1995, Matthew 28:19 NASB1995, Romans 6:4 NASB1995, Hebrews 10:22 NASB1995. The Holy Spirit interacts with us as a helper and comforter - John 14:16 NASB1995. Prayer and Praise We worship the Lord through singing, clapping, and lifting of hands. There is authority of the believer to ask freely of the Lord to meet their needs according to God's perfect will and in the Name of His Son, Jesus Christ. Healing We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit to the Church body through the anointing of oil by the elders of the church and through the laying on of hands in prayer. Stewardship Everyone is the steward of their life and resources, all of which ultimately belong to God, the ultimate Provider. We believe that tithing is a Biblical mandate and the measure of obedience to the scriptural principles of stewardship. A Faithful, Holy Lifetime Witnessing Witnessing is our greatest calling to share the love and forgiveness Jesus Christ has given us with those who have never received Him as their Lord and Savior. Helping to fulfill the Great Commission is both a duty and a privilege. We witness because we love Jesus Christ. We witness because He loves us. We witness because we want to honor and obey Him. We witness because He gives us a special love for others. God wants us to witness because of the benefits He offers to those who receive Jesus Christ. Acts 1:8, 22:15, 5:32 NASB1995, 1 Thessalonians 2:10 NASB1995, John 1:7 NASB1995 Gender God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God - Genesis 1:26-27 NASB1995. Rejection of one's biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person. Marriage The term "marriage" has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture - Genesis 2:18-25 NASB1995. We believe God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. We believe God has commanded no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. Sexual Immorality Any form of sexual immorality or perversion, including adultery, fornication, homosexual or bisexual behavior, transgender association, transsexual orientation, bestiality, incest, or use of pornography is sinful and offensive to God. - Leviticus 18 NASB1995, Romans 1:24-27 NASB1995, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 NASB1995 Church The Church is the body and bride of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit with divine appointments for the fulfillment of her great commission. Each believer, born of the Spirit, is an integral part of the Church. Jesus Christ is the head of the church, and all believers are to submit to Him as Lordship. Ephesians 1:22-23, 2:22 NASB1995, Hebrews 12:23 NASB1995 Other Significant Beliefs & Experiences Worship is with every believer and prayer. This is God's method of getting His will done on earth through every believer. Hearing the Word of God taught is how God infuses faith into His people. Faithfulness to a local church is the mechanism God uses to operate throughout the earth. Miracles are God's expression of Himself among His people. The bodily resurrection and virgin birth of Jesus Christ is foretold in the Old Testament. John 4:23 NASB1995, Matthew 6:10, 28:1, 1:23 NASB1995, Romans 10:17 NASB1995, Hebrews 10:25 NASB1995, Mark 16:20 NASB1995, Acts 14:3 NASB1995
