BELIEFS

Scripture — The 66 books of the Bible are the divinely inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God, written by human authors moved by the Holy Spirit, and serve as the final and sufficient authority for all of life. God — One triune God eternally existing as three co-equal, fully divine persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Father is sovereign over creation and redemption; the Son (Jesus Christ) is fully God and fully man, virgin-born, sinless, crucified as a substitutionary atonement, bodily resurrected and ascended, and will return; the Holy Spirit convicts, regenerates, indwells, sanctifies, and gifts believers. Mankind and sin — Humans were created male and female in God's image but fell into sin through Adam's disobedience, leaving all people totally depraved and under God's righteous wrath, in need of a Savior. Salvation — Salvation comes through Christ alone, by grace alone, through faith alone. The church holds a Reformed view of election—God chose the saved before creation according to his sovereign pleasure—and teaches that genuine faith perseveres in obedience to the end. The Church — All believers form the universal Church under Christ as head; believers are commanded to gather in local congregations, led by a plurality of pastors, for worship, teaching, fellowship, the ordinances, and disciple-making. Ordinances — Two ordinances: believer's baptism by immersion (a public declaration of faith) and the Lord's Supper (commemorating Christ's death, preceded by self-examination). Missions — Every believer and church is called to the Great Commission, with a stated priority on planting and reproducing biblically-based churches. Last things — A premillennial view: they await Christ's visible, personal return, the bodily resurrection of saved and lost, eternal punishment in hell for the lost, and eternal joy in a new heaven and new earth for the saved. Human sexuality — Sex is reserved for covenant marriage between one man and one woman; other sexual expressions are regarded as sinful distortions. Human life — A "Whole Life / Consistent Life Ethic" affirming the dignity of all human life—the unborn, elderly, poor, prisoners, immigrants, and people with disabilities—and opposing abortion and euthanasia (except to directly prevent another's immediate death). The church's practical emphasis is discipleship, expressed through spiritual growth, service and recovery ministry, home-based small groups across west Orlando, evangelism, and generous stewardship. Its pastors are Chris and Nikki Ogden.
