BELIEFS

We are a people of the kingdom of God who: Partner with the Holy Spirit We believe it is the Holy Spirit who dwells inside of all believers to be power as we witness locally, regionally, nationally, and to the uttermost parts of the earth (Acts 1:8). We believe it is the Holy Spirit who guides all into truth (John 16:13) and who gives the opportunity to abound in freedom and hope (2 Corinthians 3:17 and Romans 15:13). Therefore, The Lighthouse will be involved in missions locally and globally with efforts made to not only serve others by meeting humanitarian needs, but also with efforts to make disciples so that new churches might be planted. There will always be an emphasis on allowing the Spirit time to work so that worship will conclude with time for an invitation to know Christ and thereby receive the Spirit, as well as time for ministering to the needs of believers. The Lighthouse will seek to build a community where there is freedom to worship as the Spirit leads without having a prescribed way to dress, act, move, or pray so that all may find hope in Jesus Christ. Experience and Worship God We believe that God is living and active and wishes to engage with the creation that He made. We believe that this is best experienced in communion with other believers (Hebrews 10:25), and we believe it is an opportunity extended to all who do not yet believe (2 Peter 3:9). We believe this happens when walls are torn down and there is a genuine seeking of the Lord (Jeremiah 29:13) and a focus on unity (Psalm 133:1). Therefore, The Lighthouse will worship the Lord together, whether the number is large or small, always inviting those of other backgrounds and ethnicities in a way that seeks to grow a multicultural, diverse community. This multicultural community may include the varying cultures of gender, age, socioeconomic status, or ethnicity. There will be a focus on continuously seeking the Lord through worship with refraining from hype but also creating an environment in which the Holy Spirit can move and work. Reconcile People with God and All Creation We believe that God seeks to restore creation to perfection as it was in the beginning (Acts 3:21). Although we look expectantly for Christ to establish a new kingdom, we acknowledge the already and the not yet of the kingdom and seek God’s reconciliation now (Colossians 1:20 and Luke 17:20-34). Therefore, The Lighthouse will never be satisfied with mediocrity and will always be praying for healing both physically and spiritually for all people, believers or not. There will always be an acknowledgment that the Sovereign Lord already knows what will happen, but He will be invited to work towards restoration for His glory and His reknown. Engage in Compassionate Ministry We believe that God sent Jesus to be a perfect model of One who never sinned and never missed an opportunity to show compassion and love to the brokenhearted, downtrodden, rejected, or lost (Mark 10:45). He did not come to condemn others, but to give eternal life (John 3:16-17). Therefore, The Lighthouse will engage with the community by reaching out to others who may be different, may feel marginalized, and may need to feel the love and acceptance that Jesus offers. We will expect all to come as they are, but to stay and be changed as we seek to extend to others the love that was extended to us in Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. Pursue Culturally Relevant Mission in the World We believe that God has made each person unique to serve Him in the way that best fits the way in which He created that person (1 Corinthians 12:18-30). We believe that man was created in God’s image, and God is a God of making masterpieces that are unique (Genesis 1:27). Each person has a purpose that was given by God (Ephesians 2:10). Therefore, The Lighthouse will pursue ways to show every person that there is value to finding the purpose for which he/she was created. Every person has the opportunity to present ideas and share creativity where it will have potential to build up the body of Christ. The approach to ministry will not be based on tradition for tradition’s sake, and there will be continuous innovation to keep meaning and relevance for all.
