About First African Baptist Church
First African Baptist Church was organized in 1859. This historically African American congregation is the oldest on Saint Simons Island, and welcomes all races and ethnic groups. Dynamic preaching, traditional gospel music, and hymn singing punctuate this upbeat spiritual worship experience. Attire ranges from island casual to traditional church dress. Tourists are invited to come as you are! Midweek Bible Studies includes an exciting teleconference study. Ministries include an Outreach ministry to the homeless, the senior care center, and a soup kitchen.
