Our Mission

Boldly Caring for all of God's Creation!
The mission of the First Congregational Church in Glenwood Iowa follows the scripture of Matthew 25:35-40. We strive to care for all and we feed the hungry, clothe the naked and give the thirsty living water to drink into their soul as well as H2O to sooth their parched mouths. We walk the walk and do not just talk the talk.

About First Congregational Church

First Congregational Church is a small, progressive Christian church in Glenwood Iowa. This Congregational church has served Mills County, IA in the same building for 164 years. It was started by John Todd, from Tabor, IA and was established on the values of loving thy neighbor as thyself. The motto for the church at the present time is; "Boldly caring for all of God's Creation". The congregation assists the community through a variety of means. They host a freewill offering 2nd Saturday Breakfast monthly, generously give to and help operate the Mills County Ministerial Association food pantry, are consistent donors to the Love Tree, Mills County United, the Mills COunty Food Pantry, and have helped secure grant dollars for flood relief victims of Pacific Junction, Iowa. The pastor provides services to Tabor Congregational Church as well as residents at Linnwood Estates and Glen Haven Village. All are welcome to worship with us as well as to partake of Communion on the first Sunday of each month. God is still working, walking and alive and well at First Congregational Church - come, continue to grow in God's love and enhance and grow your relationship with our Savior. We provide home visits when requested and we have a hearing loop for those needing it. Blessings...

BELIEFS

We believe in God, the Eternal Spirit, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and to his deeds we testify. We accept the cost and joy of discipleship, we strive to be his servants in the service of men, to proclaim the gospel to all the world and resist the powers of evil. We share in Christ's baptism and eat at his table. We aspire to join him in his passion and victory. We believe God promises to all who trust him; forgiveness of sins and fullness of grace, courage in the struggle for justice and peace, His presence in trial and rejoicing, and eternal life in his kingdom which has no end. Blessing and honor, glory and power be unto God.
