Our Mission

"WHY WE EXIST" I. To Worship God II. To Save The Lost III. To Mature The Saved IV. To Provide Fellowship V. To Compassionately Minister to Human Need VI. To Transform Society Our philosophy and mission empower us to utilize our authority in Christ in order to deliver “spiritual” redemption and freedom to those who were once considered “lost” and “separated” from God (Luke 15:11-32). As a result, we serve approximately over 6,000 men, women and children in the Louisville Metro and Southern Indiana area who seek “salvation and restoration” through Jesus Christ.

Bates Community Development Corporation * A 501C(3) entity with a mission to engage in a wide range of community development activities. They also provide social services for the purpose of combating blight and deterioration in the Louisville Metropolitan area and to contribute to the advancement of community life. Established by the Bates Memorial Baptist Church, BCDC provides an array of programs and services that address the needs of seniors, adults and children. Every week, we offer food distribution, a clothes closet, a Saturday midday meal, aerobics classes and special workshops and events that address health and wellness as well as the promotion of healthy lifestyles for every member of the family. During the summer months, we offer an academic and cultural enrichment program for children ages 5-13. We also offer an after school enrichment program during the school year for elementary and middle school youth. Missions Ministry * This ministry has not only impacts the local community but also the world. The missions ministry travels to share the Gospel as well as needed resources to communities and countries in need. Prison Ministry * This ministry makes monthly visits to those who are incarcerated in local prisons and halfway houses. Many lives have been blessed and souls have been saved as a result of sharing the Word through sermons and Bible Study. R.U.S.H. Ministry * The R.US.H. Ministry (Recovering Until Solutions Happen) goal is to provide a God-Centered and Bible focused ministry that will help align the principles of recovery with the Word of God for those who are struggling with various recovery issues. All meetings are held in an open forum discussion format and are confidential. Willing Workers * This ministry reaches out to our Seniors and Seasoned Saints. We honor them by providing monthly fellowship and dinner as well as an annual celebration dedicated especially to them each November.
Bates Xtravaganza: * The community at large is invited to this fun-filled family event, sponsored by the Bates Memorial Baptist Church and held in Shelby Park on the last Saturday in July. Children enjoy rides and games throughout the afternoon. Information booths, exhibitors and vendors, physical food and a spirit filled festival and service is enjoyed by all. Girl Scout Troops * Girl Scouts allows girls to discover their own style of leadership by giving them access to life-changing experiences that inspire them to do something big. Girl Scouts is, as it always has been, the organization best positioned to offer girls the tools they need to be successful leaders now and throughout their lives. We develop leaders who value diversity, inclusion, and collaboration and are committed to improving neighborhoods, communities and the world.

BELIEFS

Our core beliefs are: •The Scriptures are the divinely inspired and written Word of God. •There is only one true and living God who is self existent and eternal. He is the Creator of all things. •Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and crucified on a cross for the forgiveness of sins; that He died and was buried, but that He arose from the grave three days later. He is the only means to salvation. •The Holy Spirit is the third person of the revealed Trinity of God and the teacher of all truth. •All who repent of sin and receive by faith Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord become the children of God and have the gift of eternal life with Him. •The Church is the body of Christian believers who are committed in covenant to worship God and to share the Gospel with unbelievers.
