About Rock Church Amesbury
One Church. Three Locations. United in Christ.
With the combined strength of our three churches, we are able to do and offer much more as a church than ever could as individual congregations. We are able to share resources, programs, staff, equipment and much more so that we can be all the more effective in sharing the love of Christ in our region.
Each of our three campuses are community oriented churches, ministering to persons of all ages, race, and condition. We gather together for family worship built on the cornerstones of strong Biblical preaching, prayer, and a vibrant music ministry. We also seek to share God’s love through a variety of ministries.
These ministries offer a balance of inward focus for personal spiritual growth, and outreach to meet the needs of our community and our world. We believe that as followers of Christ, we are called to share the Good News in both word and deed!
What many people notice right away is the hospitality they experience the moment they enter the churches. Once you are around St. Matts, The Rock or Rock Church Amesbury for any amount of time, you’ll find that we focus on relationships. We believe in the power of personal relationships – through devotional groups, life groups, one-on-one relationships, and more! If you’d like to develop authentic, genuine and lifelong relationships with others, then you’ll be glad to know that new groups are forming all the time.

“This is my command; love each other as I have loved you.” ~ John 15:12
At St. Matthews and The Rock, there are many ways that our members attempt to reach out in love to those in need. Yet, there is much more that we would like to do. To that end, we are bringing some intentional order to our various care ministries, and expanding the team of people involved in these ministries. Listed below are a number of areas that are an existing or emerging part of our “Care Ministries”. Please read through the descriptions carefully. If there are any area of this ministry that you would like to be involved in, please let us know by emailing Care Ministry. Thank You.
CRISIS CARE
Occasionally, emergency needs emerge that don’t necessarily fall into an established category. In these times we need people who are willing to be called on short notice to help in specific ways. If you would be willing to be on call to help as needed, as you are able, please sign up for this area. This may also include funeral care/luncheon services,
CARE CALLING
From time to time we have need for someone to make phone calls to connect potential volunteers to ministry needs or to follow up with other specific care ministry needs. If you enjoy talking to people, and would like to help as needed in this area, please sign up.
VISITATION TEAM
This category can include visiting people in the hospital, elderly visitation, new comers, and respite for caregivers etc. This area may involve some training and preparation. It could involve either periodic or scheduled visitation.
PRAYER SUPPORT
This category provides prayer support by phone, in person or by mail- depending on the situation and need.
MEAL SUPPORT
From time to time, we may provide meals following a person’s surgery, the birth of a child, or some other short term need. If you would be willing to prepare a meal on occasion as needed, or would be able to deliver a meal prepared by someone else, you could help with this outreach. Another opportunity for meals is preparing a meal to be frozen, placed in the church freezer, and given at a later date as the need arises.
Food Pantry-At both St. Matthews and the Rock, we help provide food for needy families. The donation of either canned (or boxed) non perishable food, or cash to purchase perishables, can be made at any time to support both the Sandown and Plaistow food pantries.
TRANSPORTATION
For this area, we are in need of people who are willing to be on call to provide transportation in a short term or emergency situation. In this area, we need both drivers, and a coordinator who would make calls to line up volunteer drivers.
WISH TO GIVE
This listing is an opportunity to post something you would like to give away or seek something you are in need of.
FAITHWORKS
This is an emerging outreach that involves providing modest home improvements, or repairs, for the elderly, low income families, or single mothers.
SEASONAL OPPORTUNITIES
Thanksgiving Baskets-This is a seasonal outreach opportunity that can involve donating food, helping to pack boxes for delivery, or assisting with the food delivery.
Christmas Giving Tree-This is also a seasonal outreach opportunity. This includes purchasing and donating specific requested gifts for area children. Monetary gifts are also helpful for this program.
Operation Christmas Child-This is a seasonal outreach through Samaritan’s Purse (a Franklin Graham Ministry). This is primarily an outreach opportunity for our children to donate small items which are packaged in shoe boxes and distributed world wide at Christmas time.
Donation Drives-These are sporadic opportunities to help in the coordination of backpacks for back to school, mittens/hats/coats for kids, etc.
BELIEFS
Our Church is built on the foundation of Scripture:
The Great Commission ~ “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”. (Matthew 28:19)
The Great Commandment ~ “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul, mind and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself”. (Mark 12:30-31)
Based on these two foundational teachings, this is a place where people can find new life in Christ, can express their love for God in worship, and their love for neighbors through service.
Our worship services at St. Matthews is more of a traditional format. The services at Rock Church Amesbury and The Rock in Plaistow are casual and upbeat. The music these campuses is led by the Praise Team and include Contemporary Worship songs. Our Pastor’s teachings help you apply the wisdom of Scripture to your daily life. Our Churches are family friendly where children are welcome.
So whether you’re a spiritual seeker who’s just investigating and asking questions about God, or a committed Christ follower who wants to sink the roots of your faith even deeper, you can find a home at one of our three locations.
You’ll find that this is a place where you really matter — because you matter to God.
What We Believe
GOD
We believe in a Trinitarian God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe God is the Creator and Sustainer of all things. God is eternal, without beginning or end.
JESUS CHRIST
We believe Jesus Christ was fully God and fully man. We believe he was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified dead and buried. One the third day he rose from the dead to redeem humankind.
HOLY SPIRIT
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who is actively working in all of God’s creation. We believe the Spirit is the source of all gifts and guides us to become more holy.
BIBLE
We believe in the Bible, both Old and New Testament. We believe the Bible was inspired by the Spirit of God to point humankind to Jesus, so that we could know and love Him.
SALVATION
We believe the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ allowed all believers to obtain salvation. We believe all who accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior and strive toward holiness will maintain their salvation.
GOOD WORKS
We believe we were given life by God in order to do good works. Good works include the instruction given by Jesus Christ in the Scripture(feed the hungry, clothe the naked, etc). We are called to be the hands and feet of Christ, while we remain obedient to the direction of the Spirit.
