MINISTRIES AND GROUPS

Groups and Public Services
Counseling Services
Weddings and Receptions
Funerals
Food Pantry
Confession (Catholic)
We have a free pantry box at the front of the mission, containing shelf-stable food, and Narcan and menstrual products when available. For events like weddings and funerals, we are generally too limited in space to host large groups, but we are still happy to perform these rites in our Chapel for smaller parties, or at your venue of choice (we highly recommend St. Stanislaus). While we do not have a certified counselor on staff, we are always happy to talk with you about whatever is bothering you, in your spiritual life or personal life. We believe talking about problems is a basic human need, and listening is a basic part of being in a community. The Sacrament of Confession will be available after Liturgies or by appointment, after May 24, 2026.

BELIEFS

We are an open and affirming Orthodox Mission under the jurisdiction of the Orthodox-Catholic Church of America. We believe in the Nicene Creed, the value of Sacred Tradition of the Church Fathers, and in the Holy Spirit’s use of the sacraments to touch the lives of all who seek God. We are fully inclusive of women and LGBT+ folks, and are heartened to have both at our jurisdiction’s highest leadership. We believe that Christ’s death was not to pay off an angry god for our sins, but an act of companionship from a loving God who trampled the worst product of our sins, death, by his own death and resurrection, giving us eternal spiritual life. We wholeheartedly believe that the bread and wine we consecrate and consume during the Liturgy becomes the Body and Blood of Christ, through the power of the Holy Spirit. All are welcome to respectfully receive him in these gifts. We believe in the preference of the poor and oppressed, and in the liberation of the worker. A better world is possible, and we believe the Gospel is the best template. We believe that Christians ought to be well-educated in their faith, and work to grow the understanding of our parishioners through the faithful reading and exposition of the scriptures during our Liturgies. Don’t worry though, sermons are short. At the end of the day, our Mission is about bringing God to those who are excluded and turned-off from the more mainstream jurisdictions. God loves you, and we do too.
