Meet The Pastor

Mother Abby in the Chapel
The Reverend Abby Thacker
Hi! Thanks for checking out our little Mission, we hope we can bring you closer to God. I’m Mother Abby, I’m in my late twenties, and I am a convert to Orthodoxy, I was raised in a variety of Protestant churches, from Pentecostal to very conservative Reformed churches, and finally settled on the Orthodoxy that I had explored in my early teen years. Only problem was, I have felt called to preach the Gospel ever since I was 4 years old, reading John 3:16 in an orange Gideon’s Bible, not fully understanding what it meant, other than that God loves me, and all of us. So I found OCCA, an Orthodox jurisdiction which ordains women, and after years of discernment, seminary training, and an ordination later, we opened our Chapel on December 28, 2025, and have been meeting for Liturgy every Sunday since! I love this small community of people who truly care about the Gospel, and since we’re so small, we all know each other very well, and we’re thrilled when we get to make new friends. Other than my true passion, serving Christ, I love to lay brick (I had a masonry business for a couple years), explore rivers and creeks for trinkets, watch Blues hockey, research artifacts/history, and make movies. My most embarrassing moment in church was when I was 13, I was at a Baptist youth camp, and I farted during the middle of the assembly, which was bad enough, but then the youth pastor had to call me out BY NAME… don’t worry, I haven’t farted in church since.
