Our Mission

We Display Grace We love and respect people regardless of their past. We display Christ-like grace in a world that sorely lacks it. We minister to those who have had the misfortune of experiencing graceless Christianity - those who feel burned, burdened or abandoned by the church in the past. We Declare the Good News The Good News is that peace with God is possible. By placing our faith in Jesus Christ our relationship with God is restored. Guilty consciences are cleaned. We are given a fresh start. The decision to become a follower of Jesus will change life forever. We teach the Bible in a way that communicates this Good News in a way that makes sense in today's world. We Depend on God We will never be all God intends for us to be apart from complete dependence upon Him. In Christ we have forgiveness and a fresh start. We are all on a spiritual journey with God. We value people regardless of where they are on that journey with Him. We believe everyone has a next step to take in their walk with God, and we want to be a church that challenges people to take it in dependance upon Him. We Do Good At Journey, the practice of Christianity is as important as the instruction of it. We help people use their gifts and talents to make a difference in people's lives around the city and around the world.

About Journey Church

www.journeychurchne.com // In 2009 we started a church for people who don’t usually like church. We know there are many people out there who haven’t given up on their faith in God but have, for one reason or another, given up on church. So we wanted to start a church to help people regardless of where they were on their spiritual journey. Today our church is filled with people who have been all over the map in their faith journey. We’ve seen people who once described themselves as skeptical or stalled in their spiritual journey discover the real Jesus. And every Sunday now we see a room full of people who once thought God had no place in their life worshipping the God of the second chance. Caring for people, both around the world and in our community is a central component of our story. We have built churches, medical clinics and wells in Mali, West Africa and continue to feed orphans in the poorest part of Haiti. As a church we have also given hundreds of hours of service to help the homeless and near homeless at the Heartland Hope Mission and the Food Bank. Within Gretna hundreds of people have been helped by our Roadside Assistance fund. So please accept our invitation to come and check out Journey Church this Sunday. Wherever you are in your spiritual journey with God, you are welcome at Journey Church.

BELIEFS

The Bible We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct. (2 Timothy 3:16, Hebrews 1:1-2, 2 Peter 1:3) The Trinity We believe that there is one living and true God eternally existing in three persons, that these are equal in every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence and redemption. (I Corinthians 1:3, Titus 2:13, Acts 5:3-4) God the Father We believe in God, the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He concerns himself mercifully in the affairs of all people, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death to all who come to Him through faith in Jesus Christ. (Deuteronomy 6:4, 1 Timothy 1:17, Acts 4:12) Jesus Christ We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal visible return to earth. (John 1:1, Hebrews 1:8, Colossians 1:16, John 17:5, John 1:14, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 Peter 2:24, 1 Corinthians 15:1-8, Hebrews 7:25, John 14:3,Revelation 20) The Holy Spirit The Holy Spirit is a divine person, sent to dwell, guide, teach, empower the believer, and convince the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. Man, Sin, and Salvation We believe that God created man, male and female, in the image of God and free from sin. Due to the fall of Adam, each individual is born in sin, and therefore, is a sinner by nature, having nothing whereby he might justify himself before God. Each individual must accept the death of Jesus Christ on the cross for themselves and must ask His forgiveness for their sins. Having accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior, they are spiritually born again and are thereafter children of God and members of the family of God for time and eternity. (Genesis 1:26, Romans 5:12, Romans 3:10, 20, Ephesians 2:8-10, 1 Peter 1:3, Romans 8:16-17, John 10:29) The Church We believe in the universal church, a living, spiritual body, of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a credible confession of faith, and associated for worship, work and fellowship. We believe that God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of giving the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world. (Ephesians 4:15, Colossians 1:28, Acts 2:38, Ephesians 5:21) Last Things We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the saved and lost, and the eternal existence of all people either in Heaven or Hell with divine judgments, rewards and punishments. (1 Corinthians 15:12, Matthew 25:46, Revelation 20:12, 1 Corinthians 3:12-14)
