Our Mission

A Church, where people of all ages, can worship God and grow in faith and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
To maintain a strong emphasis on the Word of God, sound doctrine, balanced worship and abide by Biblical standards in every part of ministry. Our purpose is threefold and from these all our activities and services take their direction. 1. To worship God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit: 2. To build up the Church of Jesus Christ through the teaching of the Word and the ministry of the Spirit: 3. To persuade men and women to repent and confess Jesus Christ is Lord:

BELIEFS

We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory, that this triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all (Gen. 1:26, Jn. 1:1-3, Matt. 28:19, 2 Cor. 13:14, Eph. 4:4-6). We believe that the Scriptural Canon of the Old and New Testaments (66 books) are the Word of God, fully inspired (2 Tim. 3:16-17) without error in the original manuscripts, and are the infallible rule of faith and practice. We believe in God the Father, an infinite personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He alone saves from sin and death (Acts 4:12) all who come to Him through Jesus Christ (Jn. 3:16). We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth (Luke 1:26-28), sinless life, miracles and teachings, His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and His coming personal, visible return to earth (Rev. 22:12).We believe in the Holy Spirit, who convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment and regenerates, sanctifies and empowers for ministry all who believe in Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ (Rom. 8:11) and that He is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all gifts of the Spirit (1 Cor. 12). We believe that all people are sinners by nature and choice (Rom. 3:23) and are therefore under condemnation (Rom. 6:23); that God regenerates by the Holy Spirit those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord (Rom. 10:9); that Jesus Christ baptizes the seeking believer with the Holy Spirit and power for His service, often subsequent to regeneration[RB1] . We believe in the universal church which is the living spiritual body, of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members (1 Cor. 12:12-27). We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ committed two ordinances to the church: 1) baptism (Matt. 28:19), and 2) the Lord’s Supper (Lk. 22:19). We believe in baptism by immersion and communion is open to all believers. We believe in the laying on of hands to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, for the ordination of pastors, the roles of overseers, elders, deacons and for receiving the gifts of the Spirit (1 Cor. 12). We believe in the personal visible coming return of Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom, in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment and eternal blessing of the righteous, and the endless suffering of the wicked. (Matt. 16:27; Acts 1:11; Rev. 19:11-16, 20:11-15). We hold to a premillennial view of eschatology with the imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ for his church before the great tribulation (Is. 26:20; Matt. 24:29-31; Lk. 21:36; Rom. 1:18, 5:9; I Thess. 1:10, 4:13-16, 5:9; II Pet. 2:7-9; Rev. 3:10, 5:7-10, 7:13-14). This is referred to as “pre-tribulation rapture of the church” or the “blessed hope” (Tit. 2:13) and has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer. We believe that the nation of Israel has a special place in God’s plan, and that all of the promises of God to Israel will be fulfilled with the second coming of Jesus Christ in His millennial reign. (Gen. 12:3, Ps. 122:1) We believe that God created every human (and only humans) in His image (Gen. 1:26) and that there is only one race of humans (Acts 17:26, Col. 3:10-11). We believe that God created all humans to be equal in value and rights (Gal. 3:28), that human life begins at conception and that all the rights accorded to any human apply beginning at conception through the time of death. We believe that God created humans to be either male or female, as defined by their DNA at conception, and that there is no other gender besides male and female (Gen. 1:27). We believe that God directs different but equally valuable roles for both men and women. We believe and uphold that marriage is defined by the Bible as being a covenant relationship only between one man and one woman (Gen. 2:23-24), with the gender of each defined by their DNA at birth. We believe that God intends for marriage between one man and one woman to be binding until death parts them (Matt. 19:4-6, Mark 10:5-8). We believe the Bible includes numerous other sexual situations and arrangements, but that these are included as abhorrent examples that God disapproves of (Lev. 18:22, Deut. 17:17, 1 Kings 11:1-4, Rom. 1:26-27). We believe the Bible states that women should not teach or exercise authority over men (I Tim. 2:12). Therefore, HSF does not ordain women nor allow women to instruct men as group leaders in a group setting. However, we also believe that women are free to teach and instruct other women. We believe that both men and women may receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit and both should exercise these gifts within the principles provided in the Bible. We recognize that God’s Word references both predestination (Rom. 8-10, Matt. 24:22) and free will (Josh. 24:15, 2 Pet. 3:9) with regard to salvation, but believe placing one over the other is flawed. We believe in what is termed “The Apostles Creed” as embodying fundamental facts of Christian faith.
