Our Mission
“Rooted in Truth. Proclaiming Christ Since 1771.”
At Sharon Reformed Church, our mission is simple and profound: to glorify God, and to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ into the community of Sharon Springs and beyond. We believe the local church is not just a place to attend, but a family to belong to — a gathering of believers where the Word of God is taught, the name of Jesus is lifted high, and the Holy Spirit moves in power.

About Sharon Reformed Church
Welcome to Sharon Reformed Church
A Historic Reformed Congregation Serving Sharon Springs Since 1771
We’re so glad you’re here. Whether you’re new to the area, seeking a church home, or just exploring the Christian faith, we warmly welcome you to Sharon Reformed Church — a place where God is glorified, the Gospel is proclaimed, and lives are transformed.
Founded in 1771, Sharon Reformed Church has stood as a beacon of Christ’s light in the heart of Sharon Springs for over two and a half centuries. Our deep historical roots in the Reformed tradition ground us in a rich legacy of biblical truth, meaningful worship, and faithful service. Yet we are not a church anchored in the past — we are a living, Spirit-led congregation with a vibrant vision for the future. As God has been faithful to generations before us, we remain committed to being a faithful witness of His love and truth in our community today.

We are rooted in the Gospel, grounded in the unchanging truth of Scripture. We are united in faith, embracing the beautiful diversity of God’s people and walking together in love, humility, and grace. And we are alive with the Spirit, desiring to see lives renewed, families strengthened, and our village and surrounding region impacted by the transforming power of Jesus Christ.
Our doors and our hearts are open. We invite you to join us for Sunday worship, grow with us through Bible study and discipleship, and find meaningful connections through fellowship, prayer, and service. Whether you’re a lifelong believer or someone who’s just beginning to ask spiritual questions, you are welcome here.
We believe God has called us to be more than just a congregation — He has called us to be a community on mission. As we worship, serve, and grow together, we seek to be a light in Sharon Springs and beyond — proclaiming hope, offering grace, and extending the love of Christ to all.
Come be part of what God is doing. Welcome to Sharon Reformed Church — a historic congregation with a living faith, committed to the Gospel and to you.

BELIEFS
The Five Solas that Guide the Christian Walk at Sharon Reformed Church
We believe that the Bible is the supreme authority for faith and practice Sola Scriptura (Scripture Alone). This means that all man-made traditions, teachings and governances are subordinate to Scripture. The “Book of Church Order” that we follow is the Bible in which we find the Vox Dei (Voice of God) which guides us through this temporal life and leads us to eternal life. “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16 {ESV})
We believe that justification or being made right with God comes only through Christ alone and not by any works of man/woman Sola Fide (Faith Alone). Unlike the Roman Catholic Church we do not believe that good works save. We believe that Good works are a result of faith and are not a means to earn salvation. “For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law.” (Romans 3:28 {ESV})
We believe that salvation is a gift from God and is given by His grace alone it is not earned or deserved due to our sinful nature Sola Gratia (Grace Alone). Mankind cannot contribute to their salvation it; our salvation is entirely the work of God’s unmerited favor. “ For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9 {ESV})
We believe that Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and mankind, and salvation is through Him alone Solus Christus (Christ Alone). We do not pray to the virgin Mary, Saints or relics they can not add to or replace the redemptive work of Christ. We believe Jesus Christ is our Advocate between God and men. “For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5 {ESV})
We believe that all life and salvation exist for the glory of God alone Soli Deo Gloria (To God Alone Be the Glory). No matter what great things we create whether that be science, medicine, music, buildings and infrastructure it should never be boasted about because it is a gift from God. All things that we create or do should point to God’s majesty and grace. “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31 {ESV})
