WE BELIEVE: (STATEMENT OF FAITH)
1 The Bible
Park Center Community Church accepts the Bible as the revealed will of God, the all-sufficient rule of faith and practice, and for the purpose of maintaining general unity of statements of faith. The Scriptures both Old and New Testament are the inspired, infallible revelation of God to man and the authority of faith and conduct.
2. The One True God
The one true God has revealed Himself as the “I AM,” the Creator, and Redeemer of mankind. He is one God in three distinct persons (The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit.) Each person of the God-head is unique and distinct and yet one God, eternal, omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient.
3. Jesus
The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. The Scriptures declare His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, death and resurrection, and ascension to the right hand of God. He is the image of the invisible God and has eternally been. He is creator and savior. He is fully God and fully man in what theologians have phrased the “hypostatic union.”
4. Salvation
The Salvation of Man. Man’s only hope is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Salvation is by faith through grace and demonstrated in repentance. Romans 10:9-10: “because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”
5.Ordinances of the Church
A. Water Baptism
In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost and by full immersion. This is an outward proclamation of an inward salvation that has already taken place. Water baptism does not bring salvation but rather is a step of obedience and public declaration of salvation.
B. Holy Communion
The Lord’s Supper consisting of the Body and Blood represented in the fruit of the vine and bread. This is a solemn and intentional time of remembrance, repentance and reflection focused on Jesus’ sacrifice for sin on the cross.
6. Sanctification
The act of separation from that which is evil through the daily dying to self and submission to the Holy Spirit. This is not salvation but this cannot occur until after regeneration.
7. The Church and Its Mission
The church is the representative of Jesus on earth and is to carry out the Great Commission. The church is is not a building but it is God’s people gathering together to go out and multiply Christ followers. The local church is God’s “Plan A” for the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
