We believe that God has called Faith to a renewed and revitalized commitment to make apprentices of Christ who are grown to maturity. We envision our church as a fellowship of people who, while at various stages in their faith journey, are united by a common vision of putting on the character of Christ. We commit ourselves to prayer and reliance on the Holy Spirit to move and to guide as we seek to fulfill Jesus’ Great Commission of Matthew 28:18-20. To accomplish the calling that God has given to the church, we envision a clear process for discipleship, whereby people are taught the necessity of surrender to Christ and are challenged to take on greater levels of commitment to Him. We desire that this process will provide nurture for the young believer and challenge for the more mature. It is our hope that a commitment to discipleship will be at the heart of our identity as a community, and that it will be regularly communicated to both attendees and visitors. As part of this process we will:
•Develop our worship service as a place for teaching, participation, and modeling life in God’s kingdom;
•Emphasize intentional small group communities to help one another apply biblical principles from the weekly sermon, learn how to engage in essential spiritual practices, and encourage one another in obedience to Christ;
•Train and equip people for personal and family discipleship, relational evangelism, and performing acts of mercy. Our prayer is that the outcome of this process will be a fellowship of mature apprentices of Christ who, “make every effort to add to [their] faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love” (2 Peter 1:5-7).
