About Belvue Christian Church

Founded in 1947, Belvue Christian Church is a small congregation made up of friendly people who sincerely want to serve God and others. Our purpose is to worship God, learn His will for our lives through studying His Word, and discover how we can live out our Christian faith in the world around us. Our worship is primarily traditional, including the weekly observance of the Lord's Supper. Preaching is expository, which means that the Scripture text is not only the basis for the sermon, but actually explains what the Bible says and means, as well as how God's Word can be applied to daily life.

BELIEFS

Belvue Christian Church is a conservative, Bible believing congregation. We do not consider ourselves to be the only Christians, but Christians only. We have no book but the Bible, and no creed but Christ. We are historically affiliated with a 19th century reformation movement, sometimes called the Restoration Movement or the Stone-Campbell Movement that began in the early 1800s on what was then the American frontier. The goal of this movement was to unify believers on the basis of the Bible alone. People from Presbyterian, Methodist, and Baptist backgrounds became a part of this movement. Some of the earliest congregations were originally Baptist churches or were formed by people who left Baptist churches to join the movement. Because of this, they were sometimes called Reformed Baptists or Christian Baptists. Today, most churches use the name Church of Christ or Christian Church.
