Our Mission

A historic reformed Christian Church
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age (Matthew 28:18-20).” We fulfill this command by making disciples through declaring the Gospel of Jesus Christ and then gathering them into churches for the purpose of 1. The corporate worship of God 2. Declaring the whole counsel of God 3. Oversight/Discipline of the disciples under our care 4. To further the Gospel work of ministry and mission together for Christ. 5. To care for one another and support one another.

About Solomon's Porch Christian Church

Solomon’s Porch Christian Church is a historic reformed Christian church (Reformed) founded in Smyrna, TN in November of 2016. SPCC focuses on making disciples of Jesus Christ in the pattern established by Christ and His Apostles in the Scriptures. What does Sunday morning look like? Acts 2 guides the corporate worship for our body. On the Lord’s Day we first spend time learning “Truth” from sacred Scriptures. Then, we share a common meal 3x a month that everyone contributes to “Together.” At the conclusion of our meal we hear a word of reminder from the sermon, confess our sins privately, our one Faith publicly, using the Apostles, Nicene, or Chalcedonian Creed. Finally, we take the Lord’s “Table” and close by offering of prayer and the singing of Psalms and hymns of praise before the “Throne” of God together. Are there any other times the Church meets? Yes, we meet 3x per month on Wednesday evening for a meal (the church provides pizza), lesson from the Westminster Shorter Catechism, and Intercessory prayer. Also, we have a twice daily prayer digital prayer meeting led by Pastor Jeremy or one of our two deacons. It is the Lord's Prayer divided into morning and evening with a focus in the morning on the Psalms and NT & in the evening on confession and the OT. Participants are on mute, while a reader reads Scripture and directs the prayer time. Technology has been used for so much ill. Let's redeem it for the recovery of daily corporate prayer in the Church.

MINISTRIES AND GROUPS

We are a multi-generational body that intentionally resists fragmentation into demographic groups. We do some limited teachings aimed at groups from time to time with special meetings attached to them. We do see a place for targeted and intentional peer group teaching, just not as permanent fixtures.
We encourage members in our body to serve with our three ministry local partners. 1. Community Servants that is a ministry situated in a cooperative housing complex in Smyrna. 2. Rescue 1 Global, a human trafficking ministry that has an outreach in South Nashville, and provides restorative care, transitional housing, and secure rescue and transport of human trafficking victims. 3. We also support a local anti-abortion ministry that does fantastic work in TN, NC, and Illinois.

BELIEFS

Doctrine- We hold to the Ancient Christian Creeds: the Apostles & Nicene Creeds are affirmed by all SPCC members. We layer on the Chalcedonian Creed in order to be affirmed to serve as deacon and fulfill an official yet, unordained role. Finally, we hold our elders accountable to the Westminster Confession of Faith with limited exceptions. Practice- On baptism we are a hybrid body. There are good men on both sides of the issue of baptism, so we leave it to the head of household's understanding, so long as it conforms to either the accepted reformed baptist or presbyterian position. We take Communion by intinction every week on the Lord's Day. We are not Closed Communion, but Open Communion with limits. We do not allow paedo-communion and are generally uninterested in the niche internet arguments of the day. We do not consider paedo-communion an acceptable historic reformed position. We allow Romans 14 to be our rule of thumb to guide us on matters like: Sabbath, Head covering (some do, some don't), Entertainment, etc.
Primary Bible Version Used: English Standard Version
Baptism: Both
Communion Frequency: Weekly
Eternal Security: No, Can't Lose
Healing and Charismatic Gifts: Ceased
Regularly Practice: Congregational Readings
We agree with these Doctrinal Statements: Apostles Creed Nicene Creed
